Riverside - Guitarist Deceased This Morning
It's with great sadness that Polish progressive metallers Riverside announce the passing of Piotr Grudzinski, guitarist since the band's inception in 2001. Piotr was 40 years old.
The remaining members states: "In our deepest pain and disbelief we would like to inform you that our dearest friend and brother Piotr Grudzinski has passed away this morning. We kindly ask you to respect the privacy of his family and friends."

I'm still very emotional over this. I really think this might be the end for Riverside and maybe that's the best thing to do. I think it would be too painful for them to go on. I'm trying to imagine how they could possibly feel.

There have been a few bands that overwhelmed me upon first exposure, the kind of heavy-duty emotional blow that stays with you for days and weeks afterwards, that makes you afraid to revisit that music, yet you can't get it out of your mind until you completely immerse yourself in it. That was Riverside to me.

At this point I can't imagine Riverside carrying on, at least for a while. I guess Mariusz might carry on with Lunatic Soul, but we'll see. I'm still totally gutted by this - I'm so grateful I got to see them (twice) for the first time last year, and regret I won't get to experience a wonderful performance such as those they displayed again.

Written by BloodTears on 26.02.2016 at 22:04 Maybe it's not. Imagine yourself on a death bed, talking to your band members. Would yolu ask them to disband? No, you would ask them to carry on after you're gone. Carrying on is the best way to honour Piotr Grudzinski.
