Borealis - Guitarist Quits, To Re-Release Debut Album

Canadian power metallers Borealis ended the year with some bad and good news for their fans. Guitarist Mike Briguglio has decided to leave the group in order to pursue other opportunities.

It can be read in a statement: "I want to send a massive thanks to all of our fans for supporting us and allowing my dreams to come true. I have met some amazing people all around the world but most especially, some extremely gifted musicians in Matt, Dowell, Jamie and Werlick. Working with such high calibre musicians is quite humbling and a rarity."

On a more positive note, the band is going to re-issue their debut album World Of Silence on January 27th via AFM Records. What is so special about this release? The whole album has been re-recorded and re-mixed from scratch. You can pre-order the album here.

Matt Marinelli, the band's singer and guitarist, says: "We were in talks with AFM about re-releasing World Of Silence when we suddenly thought 'why not re-record the entire album for this occasion?'. It was originally self-released in 2008. A lot has happened since then. The band has evolved a lot and two more albums were released in 2011's Fall From Grace and 2015's Purgatory. So making this re-issue of World Of Silence a representation of what Borealis is about in 2017 made sense for us. We are in the fortunate position that our drummer Sean Dowell runs his own studio, so recording, mixing/mastering didn't cause any problems for us in this case."

Moreover, Borealis has some more exciting plans for the upcoming year. In April, the band will re-release their 2011 album Fall From Grace via AFM and has already continued songwriting for their upcoming studio album with all new material, which will drop in the Autumn of 2017.
