Ensiferum - New Album In September, Launch First Single

Folk metal band Ensiferum is set to release their new album Two Paths via Metal Blade Records on September 15th. Gyula Havancsak, who made the cover art for 2015's One Man Army has done the same for this album as well. The first single off the album, "For Those About To Fight For Metal", can already be heard online. Satisfy your curiosity about the new sounds by listening to it below. How do you like this first song?

Produced by Anssi Kippo (Astia-studio), the master was recorded on tape, for a true analogue experience.

The album has been described by the label as being their most far-reaching and organic album to date, and this is what sets the album apart from the rest of the pack. The album title, Two Paths, is taken quite literally and features two different versions of the tracks "Don't You Say" and "God Is Dead".

Tracks:

01. Ajattomasta Unesta
02. For Those About to Fight for Metal
03. Way of the Warrior
04. Two Paths
05. King of Storms
06. Feast with Valkyries
07. Don't You Say
08. I Will Never Kneel
09. God Is Dead
10. Hail to the Victor
11. Unettomaan Aikaan
12. God Is Dead (Alternative Version)
13. Don't You Say (Alternative Version)

I like the add of the choirs on this song ,makes it more epic for some reason. Looking forward on hearing more!

While it has some nice moments, for me it sounds like the same riff all the time. In fact i like the drumming and even the slow part starting around 3:40, but the guitars are kind of repetitive. Just my opinion.

Well obviously you can immediately tell it is Ensiferum, so not the most original ever, but even though i was not wowed, i like it.

I like the album art a lot... The song is also cool, and the sound is awesome imo... maybe has to do with the tape recording...

Sounds promising. And this is coming from a guy who loathed the last 2 albums.

It's alright. Surely not the albums "Two of Spades," which I hope is on there somewhere.

I don´t know. Listen this new song from minute 3:02 then compare with victory song minute 5:34
Sounds recycled to me, and somewhat boring to be honest, I would give a few more listens.

It has the same structure in terms of chromatics and measure but the melody and the chord progressions are different. It s like for example Iced Earth's characteristic rhythm guitar patterns or Michael Romeo's solo leaks that you can hear them in many of their songs. it s natural to hear these things. But they are not the same at all musically.
