Will check more songs but all that I have heard so far has left me cold and uninterested. Guess that's Moonspell usual style and that Extinct was out of their everyday kind of music ? This is their only album I really like...

Extinct is good, but definitely not their best effort. This one, I don't know yet, because I've only listened to it once and wasn't very impressed, but it's too early to say.

Sounds Great...as usual with Moonspell!! Never been disappointed with this band...only "The Antidote" and "Darkness and Hope" were average albums.

Not sure what to say after first spin, it is definitely not bad but its a bit unusual to me, could be by the fact that they do not sing in English.

30.10.2017 - 12:20 Written by fenchik on 30.10.2017 at 10:15 The Antidote? Average? The Butterfly Fx is one hell of an average album. Of the 11 times I've seen Moonspell live, not once have they played anything from that record. As for the new record, I've heard the singles only and although they aren't awful, for now it seems it won't be an awesome album.

Opinions of course, but The Antidote is one of my favourite Moonspell albums It's definitely up there with their best albums for me. I don't like Darkness and Hope as much though, that was weaker with just a handful of songs I like on that one.

30.10.2017 - 14:23 Written by BloodTears on 30.10.2017 at 11:56 Well, the songs that had already been released sound better as part of the whole album and the production is extraordinary, but I need a physical copy of this to be sure. I only had time to listen to the entire thing once, it's definitely not bad, but quite ambitious. I need more time with it.

30.10.2017 - 23:58 Written by X-FrEaK on 30.10.2017 at 12:20 The fact that the band doesn't play anything out of it doesn't mean it's average, but more probably that the band doesn't like it and/or found the songs don't work well live. I'm just saying, because Butterfly FX is anything but average. It's experimental and definitely both hit and miss, but the best songs on it are on par with their best imo (Soulsick, Lustmort, I Am The Eternal Spectator...) The Antidote is their darkest album and I loved it. 1755 has turned out better than I was expecting (had low expectations due to the below-average song Desastre).

31.10.2017 - 19:46 Written by Darkside Momo on 30.10.2017 at 23:58 You are right it doesn't, and BloodTears is right, it's an opinion, but even on average here on metalstorm, Butterfly Fx is the worst rated album (by a long shot). The songs you said are without a doubt very good, the problem is that they are the exception rather than the norm of said record. I'm waiting for tomorrow to listen to the album from start to finish, but the singles have been growing on me (mainly "In Tremor Dei" and "Todos os Santos"). Also, I have been reading some really positive reviews online

04.11.2017 - 02:45 Written by BloodTears on 30.10.2017 at 12:50 Opinions indeed, I don't like The Antidote much but Darkness and Hope is my go-to album! :-) We can agree that Moonspell is one hell of a great band regardless. One of the most influencial bands ever in my opinion. Some of the stuff from 1755 almost had me in tears it's so emotional.

04.11.2017 - 11:39 Written by Dream Taster on 04.11.2017 at 02:45 Really? It's funny. I've never found someone who loves Darkness and Hope. They are indeed a great band, with so many interesting eras and facets. Tbh, I think the new album is kind of a thank-you to the Portuguese fans. They did the album release shows, played the entire album and it was special. There's nothing like a Moonspell show in Portugal, I'll tell you that.

04.11.2017 - 13:01 Written by BloodTears on 04.11.2017 at 11:39 Darkness And Hope is quite ok, a vast improvement after Sin/Pecado and especially The Butterfly Effect which was an embarrassment. These are actually the only two Moonspell albums that I don't like. The Antidote made me love them again. 1755 is growing on me immensely, I've been listening to it a lot and there are many things that make it special, but I'll save my views on it for the review I know what you mean when you say "there's nothing like a Moonspell show in Portugal", I'd tell you there's nothing like a Rotting Christ show in Greece. It makes sense.

04.11.2017 - 21:56 Written by nikarg on 04.11.2017 at 13:01 Yes, I can totally understand that. Rotting Christ in Greece is the same feeling. I do love their songs in Greek though. I think it adds to their sound and it was never a barrier for me. But then again I'm a fangirl! *spins Sanctus Diavolos* As for Moonspell, I've been listening to the new album a lot this weekend and it's fabulous It surpassed my expectations. It's a grower. I love the lyrics as well. It's so irreligious, which I can relate to, and so typically Portuguese. Now I understand why this needed to be in Portuguese and so epic. I also love the choirs and they are a luxury team: Mariangela Demurtas (Tristania) and Carmen Simões (Ava Inferi).
