Bill Ward - Drummer Hospitalized With Heart Problems
English drummer Bill Ward (of Black Sabbath fame) was recently hospitalized with unspecified heart problems and his new three-piece band Day Of Errors was forced to cancel their U.S. tour. All the tickets will be refunded. According to their statement, Bill Ward was hospitalized and is now recovering.
Day Of Errors was formed by Ward "in the desire to have my drumming spirit continue to live," also features Joe Amodea on guitar/vocals and Kill Devil Hill singer Jason "Dewey" Bragg on vocals.
Affected shows:
December 7 - Eugene, OR - WOW Hall
December 8 - Seattle, WA - High Dive
December 9 - Portland, OR - Dante's
December 12 - San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall
December 13 - Santa Cruz, CA - The Catalyst
December 14 - Ventura, CA - The Garage
December 15 - San Diego, CA - The Casbah
Ward drummed with Black Sabbath from their formation in 1968 until 1980, and then reunited with the metal band several times in the '80s and '90s. A mild heart attack in the spring of 1998 forced him to miss Black Sabbath dates in Europe. He was initially set to participate in their 2012 reunion tour, but soon opted out after claiming he wasn't offered a "signable" contract. Singer Ozzy Osbourne claimed that Ward wasn't in shape for the tour but Ward contested these health claims.
