Warrant - Jani Lane's Estate Sued By Former Managers Over Music Catalog
American Cherry Pie rockers Warrant are facing some issues. According to TMZ, the late Warrant frontman's managers - Just Having Fun Productions - filed a suit claiming Jani's estate has yet to pay them some hefty commissions. According to the suit, the managers engineered a deal to sell a chunk of Jani's music to a publishing company. Lane died in August 2011 from alcohol poisoning at age 47.
The deal was worth $3.75 million, and in the suit the managers say they're entitled to 15% of that amount which is $562k. However, they say they offered the estate a discount,12.5%, but still haven't gotten paid.
Just Having Fun is suing for fraud and breach of contract, and they're no longer offering that discount. They want the full $562k.
Lane recorded several albums with Warrant in the late 1980s and early 1990s but left the group several times. The band is now fronted by Robert Mason and released their latest studio album, Louder Harder Faster, in May.
