Confess - Release New Single
Many of you will recall the Iranian metal band Confess, whose musical activities earned the members imprisonment and the threat of execution for alleged illegal, subversive, and blasphemous acts back in 2015 (though news did not reach many Western media outlets until early 2016). Three years later, Confess proves its endurance by returning with new music.
On November 9, 2018, the three-year anniversary of the arrest of members Siyanor [-13] and Chemical, Confess released the aptly entitled single "Phoenix Rising," the harbinger of an upcoming third album. The single may be streamed below, as well as on Spotify, SoundCloud, and Deezer, and is available for purchase on iTunes.
While the members no longer face the death penalty, their situation remains far from stable, and they are certainly not alone in suffering censorship under an oppressive regime. The band's return to music, however, is a small victory that will hopefully herald more in the future.
