In Flames - 'Clayman' 20th Anniversary Edition Coming

In Flames are celebrating two major milestones in 2020 with their 30th anniversary as a band, and 20th anniversary of their seminal, critically acclaimed album, Clayman. In honor of this occasion, Nuclear Blast Records presents a special 20th Anniversary Edition of Clayman, to be released on August 28th. It features all new artwork and 5 new bonus tracks including a brand-new instrumental medley and re-recorded versions. Re-recorded songs were produced by Howard Benson and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge. One of these re-recorded ones, "Clayman", is now available for streaming as a lyric video below.

Frontman Anders Fridén states: "This record changed our career in a number of ways. Being the 20th anniversary this year, we had to do something massive for the fans. Going back into the studio to re-record some of the original tracks took us right back in time to when we first recorded them. Every detail of the new artwork and visuals was deeply thought out keeping in mind what the Jesterheads would want to see most. This one's for you. Thank you for 20 years of "Clayman"."

Clayman 20th Anniversary Edition track listing:

01. Bullet Ride
02. Pinball Map
03. Only For The Weak
04. ?As The Future Repeats Today

At least they're not re-recording the whole album because this sucks, plain and simple. And the new artwork too. They can't do anything right nowadays apparently.

Their old stuff is better.

There is no one left in the band who can write and play material in the right way. The way they play now is just awful.

p.s
In Flames dead for me back in 2008. I wish Jesper started a new band and play the right way.

They'll probably manage to butcher Swim as well, which is my all time favorite In Flames song. Damn shame...this wasn't necessary.

At least we still have three albums from Dimension Zero - melodic, yet vicious material.

Wow, that is a very bad version. The guitars are lame, drums sounds like they are recorded by guitar pro....the feeling that original Clayman gives you is totally gone in this version.

I'm glad that this was done. It's shows purely today's face of In Flames. And anyone can clearly see now how soft, unispired and generic they sounds nowadays. They lost their power, that's all. No progression, no new ways, nothing. They lost it, it's simple as that.

Everytime I read something about InFlames, I have mixed feelings : on the one hand I always love listening to their old stuff, it still sounds so powerful and even their latest album features at least 4 great songs. Yet on the other hand they disappoint so much with shitty songs that I'm confused... :/

One thing I can't fathom here is the intended audience. This won't please fans of the original release, it won't please the three people who like their current sound, and it's not going to break new ground in any way.

Maybe it's an act of pure self-indulgence or a push from the label execs but this sounds completely uninspired and unnecessary. At least it's only a handful of songs and not the entire album.

What a shitty sounding rerecord!
Had to listen to orginal song to see if I remember it right. New version is a joke.
The new artwork on the other hand is pretty nice.

His current band is even worse than current In Flames. He made some heavy music with The Resistance but still not the old In Flames level. I don't think he would add much too if he returned.

This wasn't necessary.
It's terrible. It's like covering another band. It's a different band nowadays.

They couldn't get anything right with the re-record LOL

Howard Benson and Chris Lord-Alge should be ashamed, the production is dogshit. They only work with pop bands, they don't know how metal is supposed to sound. But I guess In Flames are hardly a metal band nowadays anyway.

Who cares about this band from 2002?
Reroute To Remain was awful and they never went of metalcore path since then...

+1 on this, anything he has done since In Flames hasn't been great and let's not forget he WAS still in the band for the album "A Sense of Purpose" which is hardly a masterpiece.
