Flotsam And Jetsam - Update On Forthcoming Studio Album

Michael Gilbert, the guitarist of legendary Flotsam And Jetsam, recently shared a comment on 'The Metal Voice' interview regarding the upcoming studio album, which was initially planned for January 2021 release. You can check out the full video clip via YouTube player down under.

Guitarist Michael Gilbert: "The new Flotsam And Jetsam album was supposed to come out in January 2021 that was what the plan was, so the album is pretty much done. Everything is done, completed, except for the artwork as and it is now pushed to June 2021. So we stopped doing the white knuckle recording and started taking our time with the mixes. I think we are going to be releasing a lyric video pretty soon for the first single, maybe February March 2021."

Regarding the musical direction he adds: "This is the perfect follow-up to The End Of Chaos (last album). We could not have planned it any better. It ended up coming out like The End Of Chaos on steroids basically you are going to love it. The musical direction is going to be brutal for a Flotsam record, it's a step above Chaos for sure."

Almost too hard to believe considering Chaos was pretty good

Pretty much everything this band made since Unnatural Selection was boring, if not outright awful. Another band that just dishes out new albums like a factory. Plastic, sterilized, 100% copies of previous albums with 0 intent to at least come up with new riffs or melodies. Asking for innovation is like asking the Everest to become a volcano.

Yes they're on copy spree like Overkill on recent albums, which is still good enough for me. There has been at least a couple of songs on each album that can be called good and worth listening.

Overkill is even worse in this regard. They've been mostly useless since Horrorscope or whatever. These guys became useless a bit later on. High was their last good effort. I have heard like 3-5 of their post-High albums, none of them had any song worth going back for. Maybe one of these days, when I have nothing else to do, I will subject myself to torture and listen to all of them. I might go bonkers though.

Opinions, opinions... for me, their last two are the best since their first two and all four are bloody excellent.

100% disagree. End of Chaos was outstanding

and again 100% disagree. Ironbound, Wings of War, and Electric Age are their 3 best albums since their early days, and they took a slightly different approach with them.

To each his/her own I s'pose

yep, easily their best since their first 2, and End of Chaos might even be better than their first 2. The only one that I think compares to those 4 is Dreams of Death

End of Chaos was crap. A sub-par rendition of previous works with no good, much less original riff.

Ironbound, Wings of War and Electric Age were mediocre. Well produced, heavier, but the songwriting is mediocre. Style without substance. Subtly different approach if you grab a microscope.

End of Chaos doesn't even reach the brilliance of the 2nd and 3rd albums.
