Drearylands - Drummer Passed Away
Drearylands, a Brazilian doom metal team, shared on Facebook that drummer Louis has passed away. They also shared a video of drum cam footage from the band's return show in 2016, after a 10 years breakup, at the Rock Stage Festival. The song is "Sailors of The Argo", created in 1998, when Louis made what the band considers one of his best drum compositions.
The band's comment, translated from Portuguese: "Composition yes, since the Bear wasn't just accompanying or putting "takeaways" to the music. He really meticulously put together every stretch, every bump, every dish, every turn... (listen with headphones) In this song, as the lyrics bring a metaphor having as a backdrop the argonauts and their adventures through the seas, Louis was inspired, as he described, by the movement of the tides, calm and the storm, by the rhythm of the oars and the waves crashing the hull of the ship (symbolized by sequential attacks on chimbal+china dishes, for those who play drums) This was the old Bear.. a true performer in music and life, a guy who knew the right time to be aggressive and to be calm, to be contained or spread. A counter of "causes" that even in laughter alone had no control and bursts all his joy. Louis will live forever in our hearts and minds and in the countless recordings, records, shows he did with Drearylands and the dozens of bands he dedicated himself to over 30 years. Stay here our Uncertain Goodbye, dear friend!!!"
