I am so hyped about this record right now. Love both singles. Pre-ordered the album. What do you guys think? Can't see a lot of people excited about the new Opeth album. Has everyone given up on them or what? 😳

I sort of.
I enjoyed "Sorceress", the last modern Opeth album. I know they can never in the lifetime will ever be able to match the quality of Morningrise, Still Life, Blackwater Park, Damantion, Ghost Reveries, Watershed(my least fav Opeth album, but still shits on many prog albums), not intended to be matched, but still vintage Opeth is far ahead the modern Opeth.
I do, however, will look forward to listen new Opeth album and will sound great, unlike to some overhyped, overrated flower metal bands screeching and bleeding fans money and soundwise releasing saccharine-filled dubious albums.

The main criticism I had when they changed their style on Heritage and the three albums after that is that, besides some songs here and there, they were pretty...boring. This song is in that style, but a more exciting, better quality and slightly heavier version of it.

I can appreciate the last albums for what they are but I listing to Opeth for the heavy riffs, growls and atmosphere.
I liked the first single quite a lot, it was a nice surprise to hear some growls back but the last single was more on the level of the last albums so now I don't know what to expect from this next album.
I also miss the 10+ minutes songs and it seems this new album the songs are all 5-7 minutes

This track gets better each time I listen to it. I doubt I will every warm up to that intro though. Mikael's vocals are crazy good on both singles.

That intro is ripping off a part from "River" off of Pale Communion. Around 5'23'' of that song.

Interesting, I get the feeling that almost everyone here liked this song more than I did initially.

Good catch! It's not a first for Opeth either. They re-used my favorite riff from "Serenity Painted Death" in Harlequin Forest, for example. They've taken "inspiration" from other artists as well, from Camel and Chris Cornell, among others.
