I personally think that Sonic Syndicate is the best Swedish band, especially after the release of their new album, Love And Other Disasters. But In Flames and Deathstars are in the top three.

Everything on that list pretty much sucks, so "other".

And that would be something out of the early 80's Swedish metal, I'm thinking the likes of Saigon, Heavy Load, EF band... Thank you for not making me choose between them.

Why is that obvious?

When Amon Amarth even wasn't formed, Hypocrisy was releasing great Death Metal albums.. I think Hypocrisy is the best Death Metal band of Sweden, and since 1992 they always released great works and never became commercial.. I also like Amon Amarth but Amon Amarth never can reach to Hypocrisy in my opinion..

I have so many Swedish bands and if I want to rank my top 10 favorite Swedish bands:

01. Hypocrisy
02. Pain
03. Pain of Salvation
04. Bloodbath
05. Marduk
06. Edge of Sanity
07. Opeth
08. Shining
09. Amon Amarth
10. ABBA

So I vote for "Others..."

It is kinda difficult to choose, but I'll say Dark Tranquillity. Although there are some more swedish bands which I like also (Arch Enemy, Skyfire, Satariel, and so on...)

I'm a big fan of Meshuggah... some may say it is just palm-muted wankery, but I love the crazy rhythms and time signatures. Fredrik Thordendal is also my hero with his breath controller...

From the list Opeth, but you considered some shitty/overrated bands ignoring Pain Of Salvation, Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath, Shining....

In flames FTW...personally i think that Arch Enemy are quite overrated.

Meshuggah is probably the Swedish band who Ive listened to for the longest without getting over them....been a fan since 1998 and still going strong!

EDDIT: I didnt put in my list bands from cold LULEA there was some 5 good bands in mid 90's and Duskfall is overated

Amon Amarth for sure man they are sweet, Opeth, In Flames, and deathstars are cool as well. Sonic Syndicate is ok but not the greatest ive ever heard.

I voted for Opeth. Amon Amarth are right next to them. 2 awesome bands.

Dissection, Entombed, and Dismember should be up there, IMO. Not too fond of the others, besides Amon Amarth and Opeth.

Thanks, most of these are already on my "bands to check out" list.

Listening to simple the best Swedish band ever in my not so humble opinion...


Candlemass

Even their mediocre studio albums blow anything released by those bands mentioned right out of the water. Not only that but Candlemass are also way more influential than any of those.

I love all albums from band even after style change I dont see any diference, IMO if Quorton eb alive Bathory would play same style muisc, its lil like Ac/Dc

Pain of Salvation are awesome!! I like their "Be", that's a perfect album.. I think not only in Sweden Pain of Salvation are one the best Progressive Metal bands of ever..

Therion is the best ...but you dont put therion although it one of the best in sweden
