Interesting. I hope it will feature "Dark Chest Of Wonders". But it seems like I'm one of few (?) that enjoy Anette's version (a lot) more than the original.

And, yes Nightwish has released several DVDs, but it will be satisfying to finally see Anette in one of the DVDs now too. I'm interested to see how she sounds on this recording, as well as if there will be some added interview sections

You are a young man Viggo, if you were older you would have heard Nightwish gaining their fame while playing the music of that gender that you are now making a fool of.
Anyway that band changed, for good or for worst its for anyone's taste to tell BUT I 've said that if someone wants to hear stuff like the ones Nightwish used to play (and actually a lot better imo, since Therion co-created that gender that Nightwish stepped on and they know how to do it best...) I recommend "Gothic Live". I 've seen that and I 've seen Nightwish live with Annette ("Rock 'em all" July 2008, Athens) (and also watched the bootleg video from that concert in Sydney) you should watch "Gothic Live" first before you start talking bosh.

Yes, I am 20 year old and, what a surprise, it doesn't make me ignorant of Nightwish's background in any case...
This particular ensemble (with TARJA) was one of the first metal groups for me I started to listen to in the first place, which makes your first lines be relatively out of place...
I also know bout Therion, what more, Lori Lewis (whose vocals I even prefer to Tarja's) is currently singing for them...I have no doubts bout this act...
I have studied classical music history, I am quite familiar with operatic vocal use in classical music (and other styles) and you don't even have an idea how much I appreciate it....
What's utterly annoying is the constant whining that occurs every now and then such as "Operatic vocals is soooo goth and so metal.....ya better bring Tarja back or else/Anette is such a POP singer etc"

Operatic style is not connected to metal nor is metal tied to it which makes it inappropriate to judge Nightwish's (nor any band's) "metalness" by the use or absence of operatic (female) vocals....Yes, Nightwish was one of the first ones to make use of operatic vocals and lots of bands did take them as an example (like Visions Of Atlantis) but there are also bands which, in my opinion, developed their own different style independently and untied to Nightwish such as Aesma Daeva....

Nightwish didn't invent symphonic metal...symphonic metal doesn't even require operatic vocals....Nightwish just had a good female vocalist (now they have another good one)....it could've been a non-operatic rock singer such as Anette Olzon from the beginning and to make point clear, Anette Olzon is an adult-oriented rock artist although she also has performed ABBA's works (which is classic of its era by, it's not metal, but the songs are brilliantly composed).
I myself have seen Nightwish twice in live with Anette, looked live footages of both Anette and Tarja, listened their materials from "Angels Fall First" to "DPP" and revere both Tarja and Anette....I even protect Tarja's new album from those who are whining that it's some "Sarah Brightman boring pop music"....it's not...Tarja is a fine singer and I like the way she does her job....and I also like Sarah Brightman...

I hope and believe this post, as lengthy as it was, serves enough to cover most of what I wished to explain and makes everything clear.....
PS: Language point: "gender - sex(male or female)" "genre - style/description of the mood and style of something/such as film genre/music genre etc"

That's all for today.....

That's all for today.....

Firstly I would like to apologise for my mistakes in the inditement of my previous comment. English is not my mother language and I don't use it often.
Except the gender/genre mistake I also did a syntax error and you thought that I said that Nightwish invented Symphonic Metal along with Therion, what of course it isn't what I meant. I meant that Therion were one of the co-creators of that genre (of course they weren't the first either).

Now, to the point... It is different to listen to a band's album the time when it first came out than first listening to it 10 years after... You are missing the hype of that era. By the time Nightwish started to gain their reputation the symphonic/power metal genre was "in" and they copied part of that and part of Therion's operatic style and female vocals like the ones of 3rd & The Mortal, The Gathering and others had already tried years ago in metal.

Nightwish were always a talented band but they wouldn't have made this success if they hadn't stepped in the fashion of that era of roses, "La Scala" style of metal music and singers like the ones in operas like "La Traviata".... It was metal though, not pop(ular) metal as they sound in songs Mis Olzon sings.

For me metal is fucking loudness man, aggresive, passionate and full of emotions, preferebly dark. Annette is nothing like these stuff, she had stated in "Nightmail" (kind of an interview by e-mails the fans send in their site) that she is afraid of loud sounds!!! Gosh, you re in a metal band girl, try at least to act like you enjoy it a bit (Like Tarja did ).
Anyway I'm not another fan that will take part in an Annette vs Tarja forum. I don't give a shit who will sing in Nightwish in 1 year from now and I like my metal really M E T A L, Mis Lewis is metal, THERION are metal and I said that if any Nightwish fans like to see/hear some great metal performance (not popular nor pop) they should check out Therion's DVD.

The mistake you keep on making is that you think that performance of Therion on that DVD is based on an orchestra and there will be like opera singers singing relaxing music... lol... and that I am into that stuff or gothic or something, well my answer to these guesses of yours is: Just watch "Gothic Live" a couple times and then come back and talk to me about Nightwish's latest live performances...

PS: Sarah Brightman is nice BUT this is a site called METAL STORM not A.O.R. STORM...

All right then....thank you for making yer points clear...you've got a lot of truth in what you say....indeed, listening to Nightwish 10 years ago without yet the knowledge where they would evolve within years, is indeed different from looking back on the period later....

Where did I ever say that I dislike opera singers singing relaxing music? If it's performed and composed well, then it's good....about gothic? I listen to gothic groups myself....I just pointed out that some people are ignorant enough to say that "operatic vocals are so goth" and these people often don't know well neither what opera is nor what gothic style is.....

I have seen Therion live videos, I know what they look and sound both on albums and on stage (Lori Lewis shines on stage indeed)...Comparing to Nightwish live shows either with Tarja or Anette....Nightwish live shows are no less powerful and enjoyable than Therion stage appearances....Nightwish is for me equally good and maybe even I enjoy Nightwish concerts more because I have always been into their music more than to Therion's works....it's not that I listen to every group that makes symphonic metal...each group does have their own special sides....I prefer Aesma Daeva to Therion btw (and Aesma Daeva happens to be more relaxing than bombastic...it's not their "power and loudness" which is most important but the melodies and music itself plus the atmosphere....)....Nightwish is bombastic and powerful as they have always made their music.....I would attend any of their performance without giving second thoughts.....

Sarah Brightman and Tarja Turunen are currently representatives of a same genre.....and it's definitely not AOR....

No, just because YOU don't think it sounds like a big deal what she went through that night, it doesn't mean SHE did not feel very, very sad (or something like that), enough to walk off the stage in the middle of the concert, forcing the band to cut it short. As someone said in the other forum thread, it couldn't have been an easy decision for her. If she is/was going through a difficult phase in her life, like Marco said, I think it just makes it even more understandable why it happened. You seem quite ignorant.
