It's the case with several old metal bands, you know. They release compilation after compilation containing basically the same old songs all the time. I agree that it makes those releases pointless.
I think this problem happens much less with more extreme metal but with traditional Heavy Metal and Powermetal it can be an annoyance, indeed. Though all you need is to ignore them and don't waste money on stuff you already have but has been only re-packaged.

It's the same with live albums (Manowar are really getting ridiculous with all those "Hell On Earth"). Especially as I have almost no interest in live albums and usually don't buy them even from my favorite bands (I don't like the way live albums usually sound).

True, of course. I don't buy into all this crap, more just a passing comment. But I agree with your comments, and I wish it wouldn't happen so much...I guess I just hate the music industry, or at least the non-music-making side of things.

This is apparently a collection of live material, not the same old studio recordings.

Really? It's still pretty much worthless unless the live recordings are never before heard...

On the subject of compilation albums, yep, some bands have many released, of which most are far from essential. Although this is a record companies' fault, not the bands'. Motorhead are a prime example. God knows how many compilation cds have been released by them over the years!

Indeed. If there's already many live versions of those songs, it makes the new one worthless. I know labels are to blame more than bands for all those useless compilations but it's still get ridiculous in the case of some old bands.
