The Faceless - Are Officially Singer-less

As was rumored on the webernet for eons, The Faceless frontman Derek Rydquist has left the US technical death metal band.

Derek Rydquist officially confirmed his departure on Lambgoat earlier today: "As you Internet sleuths have deduced, I have left The Faceless. I left the band a couple months ago, and we were waiting until they had everything sorted out on their end before saying anything about it, but I guess I'll take it upon myself to break the news. I am no longer emotionally or artistically fulfilled by being the vocalist for the group, and that's how I arrived at my decision. Touring's luster has worn off, and I have found myself reconsidering the role I would like to take in creating and presenting music. Also, being a 'professional musician' was kind of ruining my love for music because when you rely on this stuff to make you money, as with anything, it is easy to become bitter towards it. Not that it was all bad, I had the best times I will ever have being in this band, but it is time for me to move on.

I'd like to thank the band and the friends I've made through the band for making this not only a life altering experience, but a life shaping one. There is an immense amount of talent in this band, and the new vocalist they have is doing a great job, so please keep supporting The Faceless. I can now join you in anticipating the new album.

If you're interested, I'm now playing in another group with some dudes from some awesome bands. Check it out at this location. We're mixing the album right now, so we should have some music up soon."

Just in case you're wondering, Geoff Ficco (Kamikabe, Orgone) has apparently been singing for The Faceless since Rydquist's departure.

I love death metal and extreme metal, but this band is more of a crappy "core" band IMO.
I have ranted about my dislike for them many times.

"The Quaker"
Planetary Duality is a good tech death album, "core" influence almost went out on. The guy has a good voice for this kind of music.

This band is pretty dull, and their singer was pretty lousy, so I guess it's for the best.

Throwing The Faceless into the deathcore, crapcore, pseudo metal for teens pot is utterly wrong.
I'm a critic of d american and german recent wave of retarded hardcore mets metal, but cannot say this band is this category.
If you like necrophagist, obscura, spawn of possession, visceral bleeding, gorod and similar tech death bands, the only reason you won't like The Faceless is cuz' of a misconception or malformed opinion.

On the topic, it's not a great lost just a normal mutation in a band, and any decen vocals will do just fine in a band with such talented musicians.

+3 Their first album did have some deathcore influences on it and that's where the grand misconceptions of them being a " deathcore, crapcore, pseudo metal for teens" band came from but with Planetary Duality they left all that behind and are now more of an amalgamation of tech/prog death styles, think if Cynic and Obscura got together to write an album and that's about what PD sounds like. As for the title of this piece of news, how are they singer-less? The news states 2x that they have a vocalist, that does strike me as being very singer-less...

Since i've seen them live 3 times and listened to them a few times I can throw them in that deathcore pot, cause that's exactly what they played live....right? I can do that safely right? cause they came out and played breakdown metal, not really...metal metal...lol

Title gave me the impression they'd decided to take the instrumental path. Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, IMO...
