Slayer and Kreator, both bands have similar qualities in music. Ive also heard before that Kreator is a German version of Slayer now that may be ture in some cases but prpbably not all. This is a tough question for me because both bands are two of my very favorite bands but i will have to go with Slayer. One reason is because they stuck to their thrash roots all through their career and i like all of their albums not one of them is bad in my opinion, and there are some albums by Kreator that are just okay. What do you guys think?

I voted equal on the grounds that their back catalogs are absolutely immense but they kind of... I dunno, meandered in the '90s. (What thrash band didn't?) And both have experienced a rather nice resurgence as well. Two of some of my all-time favorite thrash bands, and in my opinion you can't go wrong with any of their classics.

I'm going Slayer...but just by a smidgen. The big factor is I have seen Slayer live so many times, and they always put out a great show. I have never seen Kreator, so I am going Slayer on this one!

How can you compare Slayer who has one good album only and Kreator who\s 80\s was good only - best what they criate was in \\gothic\\ era , I would say Equaly bad, but ok if its choose I say Kreator since I enjoyed 80\s thrash albums but not 90\s , Slayer only seaons

Just because you don't like the bands in question doesn't mean it's somehow an improbability to compare them. Makes more sense than shit like Sepul vs Death.

I'm going to have to go with Kreator on this one. I believe Slayer and Kreator were leveled in their beginning albums, and both had their fallout albums; however, Kreator has been putting out consistently amazing thrash albums the past couple years, which surpass Slayer's recent efforts. And after hearing the new single Phantom Antichrist, I think Kreator is going to at least match (if not, surpass) Enemy of God, which is an amazing thrash album! Thrash on!

I have never given it a thought but now that I think of it I really don't know. I had to vote for equally good. '80s Slayer is a little better than '80s Kreator. Kinda equal during the '90s, although I have to say that Kreator did release more horrible shit than Slayer. The '00s on the other hand is Kreator's decade, hands down. In my opinion Kreator might be the only band which is just as good today, as they were 20-30 years ago. BTW, I don't understand K7 (as usual). So this comparison can't be just because they're two thrash bands... you don't like? Yeah, Kreator wrote some gothic stuff during the '90s. Slayer wrote some groovy music. Which makes a comparison even more apparent in my opinion. Two thrash bands, formed in the early '80s. Releasing classic thrash music. Both bands took other routes during the '90s. Both bands during the '00s started to release stuff inspired by their old (popular) style.

Slayer's awesome live, seen them like 4 times. The thing is that Kreator is just as awesome, only seen them once though. Can't get that it's first now I realise how equal these bands are for me.

24.04.2012 - 19:22 Written by Cynic Metalhead on 24.04.2012 at 18:11 How so? When you see a band perform live, you find out how much of their "talent" and "sounds" came from the studio production or from them. If anything, you can see just HOW excellent a band is by seeing them perform live. When you're live, there is no where to hide and no way to fix what you screw up.

The question is "which band do you think is better?", not "which band has better studio albums?" - so I would argue that live performances factor in to the equation. Slayer have sounded great on most their albums (War Ensemble is near perfect from song to production), but live they seem to take it up a notch or three. I was at the Live Intrusion gig and it was fucking nuts... I really liked the band beforehand, but that cemented their place with me. (I have seen them maybe six times over a 15 year period.) I'm with Slayer as well.

This is a hard one, I really like Slayer's Hell awaits album and of course Reign in Blood, plus their lives shows are pretty epic. However I haven't really listen to a lot of Kreator, but what i have heard was pretty tasty. I'll do some research and then come back

Ive seen Slayer live as well. Only once though, not nearly as many times as some of you older dudes, but when i saw them they were so righteous. Their playing was as good if not better than the stuido albums. Ive yet to see Kreator live though and i plan on doing it sometime before they either retire or die.

But as Craig stated, this competition is not about the studio albums rather Which band is better? emphasis on Overall( considering performing in all departments). I' judge the band with their overall co-relational factor.

Slayer all the fuckin way, they had passed much better the test of time, Kreator's early albums are good but sound very cheesy after a couple of listens, while I can listen to any of the first 6 Slayer albums (maybe with the exception of Show No Mercy, which makes me feel exhausted if I listen to it too much in a short period of time, but I still can go back to it often) again and again and they just keep growing. I was kind of sceptic about Slayer for many years, but then I came to the conclusion that they're indeed the BIG shit in thrash metal. And their new albums aren't vad, either...

Easy question, Kreator by a mile, as good as all of their albums are classics or semi-classics. They made pure thrash inspiring later death/black metal, later industrial/gothic metal and turned back to thrash with classics. Slayer are not as artistic.

26.04.2012 - 00:23 Written by Necrox on 24.04.2012 at 07:02 Kreator -with Pleasure to Kill and Coma of Souls- created some landmarks LPs themselves. Not saying that Slayer are bad. Awesome material and attacked thrash that has made them classic archetypes, yet oddly also molding their unique vision of the genre nobody has properly yet emulated Overall, I'd say I would prefer Kreator. Awesome vicious thrashing that paved the way for many early death metal bands. The knife-sharp vocals are just immense every time you hear them, especially on ''Betrayer''. Also, ''Enemy of God'' and ''Violent Revolution'' showcase their diversity without dipping in quality. They are serious evidence against nay-sayers who think the 2000's were devoid of decent thrash.
