Album artwork by Mnemic's only remaining original member, not that it will have any bearing on the music. I am curious to see how this album is going to sound...

Can't wait for the horde of old fans to say once again how this band died for them.

The cover looks core, so there"s hope their deathcore phase was just a transition to traditional hardcore.....

Cover and song titles hold some promise. Gonna wait to hear a song or two to have a real stance though.

08.06.2012 - 23:19 Written by X-Ray Rod on 08.06.2012 at 20:38 Shut your whore mouth, Roddy. If I hear more Unspoken King garbage, I'm going to bitch and moan as much as I did the first time around. Seriously, though, I think this band is toast. Either they can put out another shit pile in the vein of The Unspoken King, or they can put out a pandering, forced death metal album to appease pissed off fans. Either way, I have a hard time believing the results will be anything but bad.

08.06.2012 - 23:24 Written by X-Ray Rod on 08.06.2012 at 23:22 Buuuuut, there are traces of -core in pretty much any metal since NWOBHM Especially in thrash and early black metal.

08.06.2012 - 23:28 Written by X-Ray Rod on 08.06.2012 at 23:25 Amm, maybe NWOBHM bands got punk influence (not sure if HxC actually was formed back then) but I am pretty sure lots of thrash bands like Slayer played together with hardcore punk bands and took elements from them and then extreme metal as we know it evolved from thrash bands like Slayer. And early BM had lots of HxC-like values and musical ideas. So hardcore influence is pretty much standard in present day metal and was invaluable to its development.

08.06.2012 - 23:29 Written by Uldreth on 08.06.2012 at 23:28 I'm not that much of a thrash guy but early BM has WAAAAAAY more to do with punk than Hardcore definitely. That should be hella clear by listening to first and second wave.

08.06.2012 - 23:33 Written by X-Ray Rod on 08.06.2012 at 23:29 I doubt "regular" punk was harsh or fargone enough. But eithercase, BM directly evolved from thrash which definitely had huge hardcore influence (I myself am definitely more qualified talking about thrash than really early BM as the only BM I really do like these days is atmospheric which is pretty far from its original incarnation). But anyways I was just poking fun at his -core phoebia since metal is inadvertedly entangled with hardcore punk since pretty much it's early development.

08.06.2012 - 23:35 Written by Uldreth on 08.06.2012 at 23:33 Oh, that's where it comes from! The sound you hear in music like Bathory's debut is clearly punk influenced, not much to do with hardcore. Also... EVEN if it was hardcore, I'm still as right as you would be considering how hardcore is a subgenre of punk.

08.06.2012 - 23:38 Written by X-Ray Rod on 08.06.2012 at 23:35 Maybe. Ok I give you that one. But I am definitely right when it comes to thrash! I am not a huge fan of Bathory really so that kinda eluded me, my main reference point was present-day Darkthrone which was often said to "go back to the roots" or something like that and I definitely get a more hardcore vibe from that. Maybe I am not right there either but I associate way more to hardcore from it. Written by X-Ray Rod on 08.06.2012 at 23:35 Obviously but that's besides the point since my point was that metal as we know it was partially built on hardcore.

08.06.2012 - 23:40 Written by Uldreth on 08.06.2012 at 23:38 Early darkthrone is also hella punk... in fact... They have always being one of the punky black metal bands. To be honest with you: You are the first one I see who gives so much credit to hardcore when it comes to black metal when everyone else gives it to punk.
