Aww, what a pity. I would have especially liked to see Junius, and Alcest aren't too bad live either. But meh, can't be bothered to pay for Katatonia yet again, lest I lapse into one.

Apparently, Serbia is not a part of Europe, It's OK, we're used to it. *sob sob sob*

What's even worse, there aren't any Zagreb or Ljubljana dates either, meaning I'll most likely have to skip this.

Katatonia live... my heart leaps at the opportunity but my brain says stay away after everything I've heard about them on stage, plus probable emphasis on the new album.

Not necessarily. But incredibly uneven. I've seen them four times. Two of them were awful, one was really good (though I didn't like the set, as it was the NitND tour and they played barely any pre-VE stuff), and one was decent boring with the highlight of Sweet Nurse and something from Discouraged Ones I forget now.

I hear they've gotten better live with the new members though, and I can't deny their Tuska gig last summer was alright. It's just that they tend to play the same old songs, always a little (or a lot) inferior to the album versions, and not really... I don't know, giving anything extra. The one time I heard them play Murder with Jonas on vocals was when they warmed up Porcupine Tree and had horrible sound engineering. And their equipment broke.

But yeah, unpredictable quality with predictable songs. I still recommend it for a fan like yourself, but I've just gotten thoroughly bored with them. Especially since, like Joe mentioned, the set lists aren't getting any better with new mediocre albums.

Oh I'm aware of that, but since I have never seen them I feel like I have to try it even if I get one or two songs from that It's way too close... Barely 45 min train and thanks to my student card the travel will be pretty much for free. I also liked Alcest live... nothing OMGAMAZING, but it was pretty good and definitely something I can watch again and knowing how much I payed last time I was at that venue... I know the price should be fine.

I have seen them live around ten times now and to be honest they are one of the most consistent bands live, that is: consistently bad to immensly boring live.

Alcest live is even riveting compared to katatonia live, let me guarantee you. And I am a huge Katatonia fan up to an including Viva Emptiness.
Katatonia are probably the worst live band I know.

I have to agree that Katatonia were quite boring live. I doubt I would make an effort to see them again unless they play in my city and the tickets are cheap
