I recall buying this album while staying in England for three weeks over the summer. I was visiting a mall in the East End of London and I found a CD store, which I expected to have nothing but the usual mainstream material sold here in America. However while it did sell the usual mainstream albums that I don't particularly care for, there was also a more diverse collection of artists I enjoyed. One of them was Porcupine Tree, which comes from England so it was almost expected that I would find some of their material lying around there. I was looking through the collection of albums they had by the band, and most of them were the experimental/pop albums made before In Absentia. It was in that moment I discovered Lightbulb Sun in the middle and without hearing anything from the album prior, I bought it without a moment's hesitation, considering how much I already loved the band's material. I always liked the cover to this album, and was interested in hearing what exactly the band's music sounded like before In Absentia and needless to say, it was a wonderful experience listening to this album. I just bought this album, and it's quite beautiful. Porcupine Tree makes very poignant works, and this is among them.

It's amazing how from track 6 until the end the album contains some of PT's best songs! The first half bores me a little bit with the exception of a few parts in each song and "Shesmovedon". This could be my favorite PT album...

"nothing melts in this cold..." Indeed, one of Porcupine Tree's best albums. Music doesn't get much better than "Russia On Ice".

Ah this album, "Last Chance..." and "Russia On Ice", just great. I've never become a full on fan of PT, but this, In Absentia, Deadwing and maybe FOABP are the ones that always stood out to me whenever I listened to them, and this is probably the one I feel most warm towards; might give it another spin sometime soon
