Would it be worth winning? Is the album good? I haven't heard much about it.

Can we do this with the new Enslaved album please? I mean, not saying that something like this isn't a good idea, but to do it with a band like As I Lay Dying is gonna generate a pretty big on the part of just about everyone on here.

I'm happy for this competition as this is an album I won't bother forking out the cash for so would be pleased to pick it up for free. I thought their last album was okay (and the song "Parallels" was excellent) so I expect this will be decent enough. Agree that a competition for the new Enslaved album would be great.

The album cover reminds me of Silence of the Lambs.

04.10.2012 - 14:49 Written by HumanSpirit on 04.10.2012 at 10:48 Well I checked you profile, and found several black metal bands, so whats the difference? They both sing about relegion, so why isn't black metal "absurd, stupid and pointless"? I find it crazy that people can be so offended by a band labelled as "christian" when 90% you would have known if they hadn't said they were. Also saying "who the fuck cares?" is kinda ignorent as AILD has a pretty large fanbase, myself (kinda) included. This is nothing personal, btw, it just bugs me :3

04.10.2012 - 16:18 Written by HumanSpirit on 04.10.2012 at 10:48 Watch out guys there is too much trve kvlt here. I am not sure if I should bother since you will probably disregard everything I say that goes against your convictions, but the vast majority of christian hardcore/metalcore/post-hardcore bands (August Burns Red, AILD, Zao, Hopesfall, Underoath, etc. just to say a few examples) are probably themselves considered to be blasphemous and "dangerous" by conserative/fundamentalist christians since most of these bands' lyrics do not mindlessly adhere to christian dogmatism but instead seem to speak of personal themes, struggles with their faith and their view of the world/society from a moderate christian standpoint (obviously there are exceptions but most of these bands have very moderate/openminded members and ideologies). As a nonreligious person who is actually quite a lot against organized religion and dogmatism I find this approach interesting. Granted, AILD's lyrics are not very good but I seriously love most ABR, Zao and Hopesfall lyrics. I don't get how that is any worse than the downright ridiculous satanism so many black metal bands use in their lyrics (I have no problem with anti-religion either but come on most of their lyrics are so fucking laughable, it is impossible to take serious, or, why should lyrical themes be so important to dismiss a scene as "bullshit" because of something completely irrelevant of the music. Also "poser" is a fucking useless term that does not really mean anything and if AILD are posers then so are pretty much all melodeath/gothenburg, power metal and heavy metal bands.

Not to divert the thread any further but the religious affiliation has no bearing on the lack of quality of music whatsoever, case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au6EOGELyQ0 or if that's not your kind of thing how about some death metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8krbRM84X0 Granted there are few good overtly Christian bands I've come across, but that's only because they are a rarity in general, well in the sort of stuff I listen to anyway.

Haha tanner voice of reason. don't like AILD, don't participate, it's that easy. as far as the whole ideology thing goes, aside from NS shit, i generally don't care at all. 99% of music offers me nothing lyrically (read Immortal's lyrics some time, great for a laugh... "these mountains which I heart"... ), it's about the tunes.

04.10.2012 - 23:27 Written by Boxcar Willy on 04.10.2012 at 14:49 lol, Im not offended by any means. I know black metal bands lyrics can be stupid as hell. So? I prefer their music and their stupid lyrics rather than AILD anytime soon... Im not a satanist by any means (LOL) you should take a closer look on the bands I have on my profile and their lyrics before you make such a statement.... Yeah, is all good AILD has a pretty large fanbase (you included) Nicki Minaj also does... IMO, I dont like AILD at all and I dont think christian themes belong in Metal. Get over it. Period.

04.10.2012 - 23:40 Written by Uldreth on 04.10.2012 at 16:18 Yeah, some Black Metal bands or artists are there are as laughable and stupid as metalcore bands. Totally agree. I also found your point about them being blasphemous quite certain and interesting... I'm curious to see how religous people react to this. I took a quick look at your profile and the bands you like so. Yeaaaah. (Y)
