Regurgitate is a band that used to have a huge fanbase if I'm not mistaken; they've released a lot of incredible Goregrind albums that many times broke the archetype of the genre. "Carnivorous Erection" is, to this day, one of the most intense grinding albums of modern metal and their tons of splits became cult CD's in the scene. So now, after a horrid album called "Deviant", they released "Sickening Bliss" trying to recover their old status back?once again they failed.

This new effort is just half-baked; it has really good songs though and there are enough interesting moments for it to be a "good album", but when you're talking about a band like Regurgitate a "good album" it's not enough. If you were able to deliver one of the best albums in Goregrind history, then you have to try harder indeed, but it seems like this year wasn't a good one for Regurgitate as I haven't heard one single good comment on this release, I don't see people saying "Uh! the new Regurgitate is indeed sickening bliss duhuuhu!*dork laughs* " and on the contrary, I just see people saying "What the fuck happened to this band?".

The album is strong, the tracks are pummeling strikes and the music itself is brutal as fuck. But we already have thousands of bands doing that same crap over and over again, we don't need another Cattle Decapitation rip-off and there are enough Carcass-worship bands in this world to feed every single kid in Africa. We need brutality mixed with originality for crying out loud.

Anyway, this is another Goregrind album, if you're a fan of the band and you have everything Regurgitate buy it?if you don't, skip it as it's just a half-decent album by what used to be a great band.
