I was actually quite uninterested in Scurrilous; the technicality of their playing increased but Roddy writes some dumb lyrics for shit. I wish we can get another Kezia. Hell, another Fortress will be good.

Quite similar to Scurrilous, perhaps a bit stronger. Both of which are far inferior to Fortress imo. EDIT after a few more listens: Actually this is an excellent album, not as far behind Fortress as I thought at first.

Don't know what all those people saying this is their best album been listening... Volition is simply so far from the brilliance of Fortress and Kezia. Of course, they've got skills and all, and still write interesting stuff (like the first two songs) and a few brilliant moments here and there, but they did all this before and much better.

On my 8th time through, Fortress is still their best album, but Volition is honestly just a sliver behind, it's pretty damn good. Love all of the guest performances, makes this album feel like a big deal. UPDATE Yeah, now that I've listened to this album legit 20 times, I put it above Fortress. I'm in love. Been a while since I've been so enamored with an album.

It's a shame that PTH are more interested in wanking (musically speaking) than making great songs now. What a disappointment. I like technical and complex music, but not when it's done this way. Scurrilous was so good though...
