Ave Sathanas!
It feels like I've been out of the metal loop (such as it is?) for a while now, I've been predominantly listening to industrial and goth for nearly two years now, and have only had maybe 20 or so metal cd's with me since I've moved to the US. I'm not ignorant to metal, but I forget a lot of the cd's I have back "home," and I am good on black metal so I don't need anymore recommendations on that. Death metal can be either really boring or pretty good, I've always been a big cannibal corpse fan since George Fisher, and I enjoy Nile quite a bit, and there's also Opeth too.

So how about some help guys, I'll tell you what I've been listening to the most lately. Pantera's "Reinventingn the Steel" (I never use to really lthink this album was that great, but it's become a new favourite,) and "Far Beyond Driven." Then there's Superjoint Ritual which I understand is more catagorized as "hardcore" but it seems more metal to me, and it's pretty dark, and then I've been listening to the two Down albums a lot - obviously I really dig Anselmos style. I've given the second Devil Driver album a few listens to and it's not bad, I thought I would really hate them. I listened to the latest Lamb Of God album a couple of times but it didn't really grow on me. Aside from that it's just been black metal and industrial music.

Hej,

Hehe, i have something to say about Lamb Of God, if possible . Id advise you to listen to some good songs first, before listening an entire album. Its always what i do, when i wanna know if the band is worth the listening or not. Now, heres the list of the songs you OUGHT to hear, if you wanna have an accurate opinion about Lamb Of God :

Song name : Album name :
-11th Hour -As The Palaces Burn
-Ruin -As The Palaces Burn
-For You Malice -As The Palaces Burn
-Omerta -Ashes Of The Wake
-Hourglass -Ashes Of The Wake
-Now You've Got Something To Die For -Ashes Of The Wake
-Blood Of The Scribe -Ashes Of The Wake

You said that you had listened to Sacrament ? Its not their best album, but some songs are great, im especially thinking about Pathetic, Requiem and Another Nail For Your Coffin.

Here is for Lam Of God . Yet, if you still dont like it after this, then you're not made for Lmab Of God, or Lamb Of God is not made for you.

Now, about Death Metal, i dont really like this genre actually, but i like Melodic Death a lot, and id advise you some Amon Amarth , i think they music is listenable for everyone. Hmmm maybe some Scar Symmetry too, and Insomnium, even tho its not the same.

And about hardcore, i dont mind listening to some songs, if i like the music, i dont care if it is "hardcore" or not. I dont even understand how you guys can find a difference.

Bleh, im actually telling which are my favourite bands, its not what you wanted i guess, anyways , lets hope the others give a better advice.

I actually have the entire Machine Head discography, my buddy reminded me about them last week as we use to listen to "Burn My Eyes" when we were younger, and Sepultura was a really big influence to getting into metal at the begining, but anything without Max is really bad imo, the latest Soulfly album was alot better than I expected, and I've always enjoyed Nailbomb.

I have the first mainstream LoG album in my home country, and I really thought they were good when I first got into them.

If you like Pantera, then maybe you'll like Chimaira. They are a band that is part of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, along with other bands like Lamb of God, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Devildriver, and so on. I recommend the self titled album.

If you are interested in Death metal, I make following recommendations:
1.Deicide: the scar of the crucufix, the stench of redemption, legion
2.Vital Remains: Dechristianize (I haven't got a chance to listen to other Vital Remains albums, so I don't know about them)
3.Cannibal Corpse-Vile, Gallery of suicide (don't miss these if you like the band!)
4.Amon Amarth-Once sent from the golden hall (I don't know if you are interested in melodic death metal)

If you like speedy songs, don't miss out Dark Funeral (especially their 'the secrets of the black arts' and 'Attera totus Sanctus' and their live album), and you can listen to Enthroned as well.
These were a few recommendations. I don't know if you are much into extreme metal, else I'd recommend some more.
P.S. You seem to like Pantera, so what about Kreator albums?

Try out some Meshuggah, Black Label Society, and EyeHateGod (simular to pantera). Also for black metal check out Obituary, Morbid Angel, and Vader (if you don't know these bands already, which you might).
Check these bands out, you will probably dig them since I pretty much like most of the stuff you listen to.

You meant death metal right? Obituary, Morbid Angel, and Vader are all death bands man. I'm sure you know that but, just pointing it out. Anyone getting into death metal should check out the aforementioned bands and Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Atheist, Entombed, and Autopsy.

Slaughter is Canadian? I did not know that. I've been enjoying Dissection lately, if other blackened death bands sound that good I'd like to find them. Most of the bands you guys are recommending I am familiar with on some level or another, I appreciate the suggestions though. Good underground metal seems hard to find.

Hey man you got to here Coroner, Australian Death Metal it is realy awesome, I am not into Death Metal a lot but this band kick ass, really. Since you like Down and Anselmo style maybe youd like Krabathor, I don't like them but my friend is big Down fan, he has four Down tatoos, what a moron, and he like this Krabathor a lot, you've probably already listened Vomitory but just for the case, one real mean band is Witchery, ex-Slaughter members btw, some kind of trash/black/death real awesome and last but not leastNocturnal Breed, I like this kind of combinations of Trash with Death Metal.
I forgot Aura Noir, Fenriz, Apolyon,Blasphemer and Agressor, real helish combination, Black Trash, real awesome man, try it!

For anyone whos into straight up melodic heavy metal I recommend this album called "Children Of The Black Flame" by a band called Wolf. That album is filled with ridiculously catchy riffs and melodies. and for anyone whos curious the band is from sweden. The vocals are somewhat similar to that of Rush, except slightly more vicous and less womanly.

heres the list of the songs you OUGHT to hear, if you wanna have an accurate opinion about Lamb Of God :

Song name : Album name :
-11th Hour -As The Palaces Burn
-Ruin -As The Palaces Burn
-For You Malice -As The Palaces Burn
-Omerta -Ashes Of The Wake
-Hourglass -Ashes Of The Wake
-Now You've Got Something To Die For -Ashes Of The Wake
-Blood Of The Scribe -Ashes Of The Wake

Almost accurate - you forgot "The Faded Line". "The Faded Line" to lamb of god is like "Down with the sick ness" to Disturbed. It's like "Number of the Beast" to Iron Maiden. It's like "Oops, i didi it again" to Britney Spears!
