Albums That Changed Me

These are some of my all time favourite albums. Not really any order, just what came to mind first.

Created by: Boxcar Willy | 03.09.2014

1. John Cougar Mellencamp - Nobody's Fool (Jack & Diane was the first song I ever heard. I would play it over and over again when I was 3 or 4 years old. Great memories.)
2. AC/DC - Back In Black (My dad bought me this when i was 6 or 7. I listened to it endlessly from then until I was 12 or 13. My life is based around it.)
3. Anthrax - Attack Of The Killer B's (Brind Da Noize was on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 which I bought on new years eve in 2001? Played it from 12 until 8 the next morning. The holy THPS series is a huge reason why I listen to music.)
4. Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe (Dragula man... DRAGULA. Snowstomr for Playstation was also a good hit. Econoline Crush was also on there. My dad saw them when they toured in a rusty Ford Econoline van with Econoline Crush spray painted on the side of it.)
5. Shadows Fall - The Art Of Balance (One of my first metal albums. A Fire In Babylon got me into guitar and music in general. Forever Grateful for this band and album.)
6. Megadeth - Greatest Hits (This was the beginning of my metal storm era and also the first CD I purchased. I started to realize there was different types of metal and music in general.)
7. As I Lay Dying - Frail Words Collapse (94 Hours. Getting into extreme metal here.)
8. Metallica - Master Of Puppets (My eigth grade anthem. Got real elitist after this. Started listening to only death and thrash. Hated everything else. Typical 13 year old. Idiot.)
9. Necrophagist - Epitaph (Got really into extreme metal with this one. Dying Fetus, Augury, Obituary. Lots of stuff.)
10. Had a nice little break here, listened to the same shit for awhile. Didn't use metal storm. Weird era in my life. Learned lots in my first years of Highschool.
11. Protest The Hero - Fortress (The music revival. I listened to this so much in tenth grade. I still know all the words to every song. Wasted lots of class time zoning out to it. I started to appreciate cleans vocals more. My mind began to open.)
12. Nyktalgia - Nyktalgia (And with this, and Cold Void. I finally understood black metal. It wasn't just awful production nd fuzz anymore.)
13. Deafheaven - Roads To Judah (This. This is it. I felt everything with this album. Combined with Fortress music had meaning again. My favourite album. This got me into new forms of non metal.)
14. My Bloody Valentine - Lovelessness (I hated this when i first heard it. It was just noise. Now I understand how much it helped me learn new things.)
15. P64 - I can't honestly remember the album name (In an attempt to fit in more at school, I started listening to pop and hip/hop. Smooth lyrics and easily digestible. Amazing find.)
16. When We Team Up - If Not For Me, Then For My Friends (The Blink 182 cover blew my mind. Really got me into anti-metal.)
17. Wu Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-tang (Brind da muthafuckin ruckus. Got me into rap and hip/hop even more.)
18. A$AP Rocky - Long Live A$ap (Trap killaz. Great rap.)
19. And now we have me. Lame old me. Listening to everything and everything.

Nice list. I greatly enjoy reading your memories or reminiscences at the same time-- it adds a nice personal feel that I think is lacking from a lot of the cookie cutter lists (including my own). Cheers!

Asap Rocky is unbelievably terrible, but I can level with everything else.

Seriously? I 100% disagree. Long Live is full of bangers.

Aint neva been a rapper this cold since Tupac was froze and thawed out for a spot date at a Coachella show

My favourite track, even though most of the song is guests. He's not on the level of 90's kings, but he shits on Wiz Khalifa etc.

I'm with LeChron. Obviously this list is really personal so it's not like I'm trying to convince you that he's bad. I've just never liked A$AP stuff, aside from some Ferg.

That's funny because I don't like Ferg at all. I dunno, Long live has so many good tracks to me. Fashion Killa, LvL... Lots of good jams.

I agree that he's better than Wiz Khalifa, but I saw him live like 2 or 3 years ago and for most of his set he just yelled "SWAG" over the "Sippin on Sizzurp" beat. But that song you posted wasn't too bad, I just haven't had many good experiences with ASAP Rocky. But that was probably because he followed up Atmosphere, who performed the most depressing set I've ever seen at a rap show.

I remember listening to the Lucy Ford comp a bunch in junior high. We used to play football behind the portables and my friend Anthony brought his giant boombox and played "Mama Had a Baby and His Head Popped Off" like 50 times.

Dear god I despise A$AP. Cool list, and it's funny how I dislike most of it yet typically consider our tastes similar in some regards

Why does everyone hate A$AP?

Yeah well our tastes are similar nowadays I suppose, I never used to be so open minded.
