Gloryhammer is that all-too-rare band that embodies everything tiresome, juvenile, cliché, and hopelessly stupid about a genre and somehow manages to make it sound fresh and exciting - or at least extremely fun. Such an earnest overstuffing of cheese makes it hard to read them sometimes, as Tales From The Kingdom Of Fife demonstrated. Yet for Gloryhammer, this mission of dragons, wizards, undead unicorns? space goblins? hoots? what's a Questlord of Inverness? I can get behind a band who earnestly understands how ridiculous they are. If Weird Al were well-executed power metal he would be these dudes.

So apparently the artwork had some tracing done: For reference, that is Gul'Dan from Warcraft. While /r/wow is going hardcore witch hunt mode, I find it to be a real cool nod considering that HammerFall's art is made by Sam Didier, Blizzard's art director. Power metal has generic high fantasy themes, Warcraft is generic high fantasy (although they were the first to canonically humanize orcs), and Warcraft has its fair share of "inspirations" as well.
