Just like Quaternity, this isn't really metal. But is has a different sound than the 2014 release, more epic and focused on the vocals, with a the instrument in the back. (and lots of reverb). This is also a concept album, read as follows:

"Ye Are Gods presents the hymns of the Process Church of the Final Judgment, a religious movement that emerged in the late 60's as an apocalyptic shadow-side to the flower power and New Age movements. The album incorporates the ritual text and structure of the Process Church's highest and holiest mass, the "Sabbath Assembly" liturgy from which the band is named, with Genesis P-Orridge serving as High Priest(ess)."

it is true that beyond the epic doom components there's also a taste of soft blues/pop/folk, I guess that's why.
