I can't believe there is no topic about my favourite band! I love them so much! The way Lisa uses to sing(she's kind of a soprano, too),the melody of their songs, the melancholy in some of them, the lyrics...All these things mean so much to me!I'll continue supporting them.Pity that I still can't find their new album in Sofia.I wanna hear the whole of it!

Xandria is a very cool band. My favorite album is "Ravenheart" too, it has some of my top favorite Xandria songs such as those that Elodie Artour has already mentioned. Lisa has a very sweet voice and she's also really beatiful.

well but "Eversleeping" isn't an actual album, it's only a single or EP. I love both "Ravenheart" album and song.

While I like their newest album, I think it's a pure pop album. Those song structures have been heard over and over again on the Eurovision (yes I watch it, may I burst in flames). So a question here, are the older albums actually gothic metal or is everything like this? Note: I'm not saying they are bad or anything, I just want to know how their older material is compared to the "new" album.

23.01.2008 - 11:29 Written by Elodie Artour on 22.01.2008 at 19:59 Yes I agree with you This new one is certainly my favorite! I think the band's decision to produce the album themselves really made the difference! My favorite tracks are "Emotional Man," "Vampire," and "Sisters of the Light". And of course the video track Which are yours?

23.01.2008 - 11:32 Written by Vunts on 22.01.2008 at 22:09 Well, you can see two of their videos through the links on the Xandria profile page One for "Ravenheart," the title track from their 2004 release, and the other for "Eversleeping," from their EP. I would say they give a decent picture of some older material. If you are expecting a drastically different style, I don't think you will find it, but there are many subtle differences

Ravenheart's video gave a "video no longer availbable" error. Just pointing it out. Well, it's fairly different to me if I'm honest. The music on Salome was...how do you say...happy, up tempo. It carried on to the vocals, which in my ears ruined the gothic part completely. Ravenheart has a more gloomy, sad, dreamy vocal. I think female vocalists need to follow at least one of these steps if a band wants to be at least a bit gothic by solely riding on the keyboards and female vocal. It's still pretty much like you said, subtle changes, ( not like for example how Crematory have changed from death, do gothic/death to industrialish music. ), but it's quite enough to inspire me into finding the Ravenheart album. I will add a bit of talk about Eversleeping as well. That song was just beautiful (nah, didn't watch the videos, listened while typing my post), full of emotion. A teensy bit repetitive in the end, but it didn't distract from the overall experience. The occasional drums also added to the song, so it wasn't another pure piano-style keyboard track (I just adore Beseech - Lost, so I am very critical of that exact type of ballads so I wouldn't ruin the memory). Anyways, thanks for giving me directions, I don't know why I didn't check that before myself...

@headbang vol.99:Their previous material is better, for sure. (Especially the first album-"Kill The Sun".) @dismaleuphony:Mine are: "Salomé" "Beware" "Only For The Stars In Your Eyes" "Firestorm" "A New Age" "Sisters Of The Light" "Emotional Man" But,actually,I love every single song on this album!

I am a fan only of one Xandria album - India, it is a beutiful peace of gothic metal, but other albums just dont fit on me. Maybe because india has some really doom song structures, instruments and performance are more professional, and dynamic, that on other albums, that i find quiet boring.

12.05.2008 - 09:45 Written by annodomini on 10.02.2008 at 16:15 Well, yes, I agree there is something different on the "India" album, so it makes sense that you only like this one I don't mind "India," but I rarely listen to it much, probably because what makes it different is exactly what I don't like about it as much. It's a bit hard to pinpoint, but going from "India" to "Salome - The Seventh Veil" there is a subtle but huge change, which I think comes from the band taking control of the production more among a few other things like songwriting too... But of course, all of this doesn't matter much if the singer that Xandria chooses next cannot sing any of the old songs properly I hope they choose someone that at least can replicate the songs live and not be so drastically different the way a few other female fronted bands have done lately...

I'm very shocked because of the fact Lisa left the band. But,well...I don't think that a drastically different female voice will affect Xandria's music.Actually,it will be very interesting to hear old Xandria songs performed in a totally different way.(Although, there's no one who can replace Lisa... )

26.01.2009 - 09:16 Written by Elodie Artour on 20.01.2009 at 23:42 Okay! I've checked everywhere, and all signs point to the new singer being Lakonia, who has done some vocal work with Axxis. Personally I don't think this video does her justice as I don't think she fits with the rest of the band, but it could just be the live setting. And, well, the promotional picture of the new Xandria sure looks like her

The band has confirmed the rumour. The new singer is indeed Kerstin Bischof, aka Lakonia. I'm mildly curious, how this is going to work out. I think she's quite competent. If the songwriting will adapt to her abilities, this might become a success.

Ha ha, Xandria was basically one of the first real metal bands I got into, before I encountered them, the only thing close to metal was Evanescence. I remember, there was a show on the Viva, the German music channel, called ''Hell's Kitchen'' late at night, featuring about an hour or two of metal music videos. And one day there I saw Xandria's ''Ravenheart'' and immediately liked it. Immediately, I wanted to buy their CD, but in my country it was very hard to get (at least where I live), but one time when we were on vacation at the seaside, I finally found it and was so happy, of course I bought it. I remember I couldn't sleep the night before I bought it because I was so excited. And then I listened to it over and over again in my room, and was far from disappointed, I loved it! Every song was pure magic to me!I also remember secretly visiting their website in class, my those were sweet old days. Then, as always in my case, I somehow managed to lose their CD and I moved on...now I am rediscovering them, I just heard ''Only For The Stars In Your Eyes'' and love it! I'm also very sad Lisa decided to leave, I think she was a great singer and like others have said, also very beautiful. But I've also heard the new singer and must admit I like her. I'll buy the album I had lost again and soon as possible, I'll buy all of the other albums and listen to them too. So I guess I'm not a real fan yet since I haven't listened to all of their stuff yet, but I absolutely will and post my opinions here. So, Xandria is definitely on my playlist again!

I just watched a couple videos on youtube from Xandria's gig in the Czech Republic in March. She managed to sound impressive even on some of the lousier recordings, which is no small feat I think. To me it more looked like "Kerstin Bischoff and Band" ... she outshone them all. She's beautiful, too. So she's doing great in my opinion. Now I'm curious what kind of songs they are going to feed her. I'm not going to become a huge Xandria fan, but if they come anywhere near my place, I'll try to get in anyway. Deep in my heart I wish she had stayed with Axxis or a similar band, though.
