The Majesty Of Decay is Judicator's sixth release, and I have to say, judging by the quality of this release, there is no clear indication that this band will be letting their feet off the power pedestal anytime soon. Over the last decade, Judicator have proven to be a modern day force (by U.S. power metal standards at least), doing so by keeping their very genre's traditions alive and well, whilst incorporating their own style and image to satisfy the needs of U.S. power-crazy fans.

Interesting album, I was hoping it will be faster and heavyer, but somehow it turns out weird but good.

I love the opener, such a weird track to set the tone of a power metal album.

Having got into Judicator through their last album, I can definitely say I prefer their historical concept albums - I just seem to connect better with those kinds of lyrics for some reason - however this album is still very good. As a sequel to their third album "At the Expense of Humanity" (dealing with a family member's battle with cancer) I can easily say that this album is superior, at least to my ears; there is a certain confidence and flair to the songwriting that makes the personal nature of the lyrics seem less bleak. Judicator seem to be carving out a unique niche in power metal, they are very creative and there are a lot of unexpected moments here. I think that the closest reference point is probably still Blind Guardian, in the sense that there is a near-perfect mix between "progressive" passages and catchy hooks that will stick in your head for days - but they are certainly stepping out from that shadow and sounding more like Judicator than anyone else. This will be in my rotation for a long while for sure, although I'm definitely looking forward to their next history-based album! (this turned into a mini-review, whoops)

The opener should be thanked. If it was a typical power metal intro song, i would have stopped it without even listening to the gems which were following it. What a unique style of music, which was becoming better and better towards the second half. Some speed, some power, some progression, some riffs, some melody and what not is there. One of the best albums I have listened to in recent times.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

Seriously, with power metal I thought the genre was saturated with similar sounding sappy sounding metal. But this album completely changed that viewpoint of mine. What amazing compositions. Somehow I find a lot of Queen in their songs.
