Very surprised to see no one has commented on this exceptional album.

This was probably the 2nd IQ album I listened to (after Ever) and it just blew me away. Have listened to it dozens of times and I got to say, it's just one of the best albums in the genre I ever heard. The darker style compared to their earlier albums really appeals to me, plus the fact that this is more progressive metal than rock. I don't really care for the "happy", jazzy IQ albums.

This is their magnus opus without a doubt. Especially long songs such as The Great Spirit Way and For Another Lifetime are highlights. IQ is the only band I know that became better and more original musically after literally (4!) decades. Or better said: their new style appeals much more to me than their old style.

This Saturday they'll be playing their regular Xmas Bash show in Zoetermeer, which I will be attending for the 3rd time in a row (can't wait). Last time the singer mentioned they would release a new album this year. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I just hope it's not due to health issues... after all, these guys are not exactly the youngest around.

That's still an opinion. And going by the rating, Resistance wins.

That being said, TRoB is indeed an excellent album. Also, easier to listen to since it's much shorter.

Obviously an opinion, for me TROB has a better flow., it feels, for lack of a better word, warmer, more inviting.
I listened to Resistance a couple of times and forgot about it (it didn't click much i guess). Maybe i need to give it a second chance, should time allow that soon.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Resistance is really too long, just like Subterranea.

I think especially the 1st disc of Resistance is excellent. Sometimes I just divide the album over 2 days. Listening to this album in one go is possible but it's challenging.

Oh, Subterranea was my introduction to IQ, long ago. I think it one of their best albums.
