Who is the superior German technical death metal band

My money is on Obscura but shouldn't this be in the Metal Arena??

Can you edit your opening post with a bit more detail... i.e. why are we comparing these two bands?

I like both. Necrophagist has a more technical, show-off approach to the music with their focus on shredding solos, but they lack the atmosphere that Obscura succeed in creating. Even though Muhammed Sucimez's career is bedazzling, Obscura add a lot to their music with clean vocals and let-ring arpeggios. On the other hand, Sucimez's oriental solos are some of the best ever composed. I can't vote. No.

Musically I like them both equally. BUT since Obscura is actively writing new albums, and touring my vote goes to them

I prefer Necrophagist, I never really "got" Obscura.

Obscura has way more variation in their songs. They're way more profession imo. So, Obscura for me.

Obscura is 100 times better. Necrophagist musicians are talented as hell but they're boring and have no creativity. Their solos are amazing but... the rest of the song is just wankery. Obscura are talented as hell as Necro, but they're creative and more dynamic. Obscura wins for me.

I gotta go with Obscura. I'm a bass player, and the fretless bass work on the Omnivium album is fantastic. I also think they are able to branch out a little more into melody than Necrophagist.

Couldn't agree more, i'm a bass player too and i LOVE obscura's stuff even though i can't play all of their songs (actually i haven't tried all of em haha) necrophagist on the other hand are only bragging about how fast and technical they can play and i don't really enjoy listening to their stuff as much as obscura, it's of far better use for analysis from a theoretical point of view...or at least that's my humble opinion
