Me personally enjoy almost every metal ballad. Those by Nightwish are great, Iron Maiden (or Bruce Dickinson self) have good ones, but by me is currently winning Manowar with Courage...how about you?

If you consider these as ballads (I don't really know what's a ballad lol),
Starway to Heaven - Led Zeppellin
Fade to Black - Metallica
The Unforgiven II - Metallica
The Burning Red - Machine Head
Descend the Shades of Night - Machine Head
So far Away - A7x
Still Loving You - Scorpions
Don't Cry - Guns N' Roses
Wonderful Life - Alter Bridge

And I bet you hate Slipknot, but I'll call "Snuff" for this

Be nice and don't kill me, it's my first post (:

Bloodbath - Eaten.

You stole my suggestion!

Am surprised that no one mention it yet, or maybe not alot of people knows the real story about this song.

Seeing Bloodbath and ballad in the same sentence made me gasp.
Could you explain?

I like to say 'Guardian' by Fates Warning. From start to finish this is epic, cheesy but brilliant. The tempo change is kickass and smooth. I love Jon Arch's vocals too, just a classic metal sound.
