I found it necessary to make a whole other list, as I left out some personal favorites of mine and yours. This only going to be older releases again, from late eighties to 92'. I want to put releases that were genre defining and that people were familiar with. I don't have Amorphis and At The Gates, because they were hard to define, well melodic death to say the least. I have trouble deciding whose my favorite out of the list even, I put 4 of my favs. on here. I listen to Master's s/t and Malevolent Creation's "Ten" the most, but in the end Master's s/t is a little better and contains more originality. It is catchy as fuck, simplistic, and has a very cool and heavy guitar tone. The solos are timed perfectly, Paul's vocals are really aggressive, and the pummeling drums are great, a definitive classic.

From this list, I'll vote for Atheist. Piece of Time has some amazing solos and the technical precision is outstanding. Most tech death bands are unnecessarily technical, but that album just flows together quite well.

Piece of Time as well here. I don't think there is a possibility of beating what Atheist created with that album.

Leaving out Entombed's Left Hand Path which was very influential but including Atrocity and Malevolent Creation? That's weird.

Is it me or do you and K7 have a very bad memory?Did any of you notice this is part 2?Or remember that you both replied in part 1 a couple of times, which included Entombed.I also think that Atrocity are very important, pioneers of technical death metal, thanks. There is a link at the very bottom of the page.

I haven't heard some of those albums, but its a hard choice. I like Penetralia because of the crushing straightforward sound as do I like Autopsy and Dismember a bit more. So its 'like an everflowing stream for me'.

I can agree about Malevolent Creation, but Atrocity's debut album is, even though it's very underground, a very appriciated and brilliant album. I remember how it won against erosion of sanity and nothing but death remains some years ago on thrashmageddon. But I think there is no point in posting that album on metalstorm, because I doubt that more than 10 people ever heard their debut album.

Anyway, from that list, it's gotta be Considered Dead for me, worship it, but I never could and never will vote against Autopsy, they're just something special for me, can't really explain why, so my vote goes to Severed Survival.

This one has not been quite difficult to choose. Atheist forever. Then will be Hypocrisy, but I prefer other albums from them.

Well out of that group, I'm going to have to go with Dismember. Not only is "Like an ever Flowing Stream" one of my favorite albums, but it is just a kick ass, Swedish grinding, death metal album.

Out of this particular list, I only own two albums - Atrocity's Hallucinations, which I didn't think that much of, to be honest, and Hypocrisy's Penetralia. Anyway, this is a total no-brainer for me, but I have to give my nod to an album that isn't even on this list and say Entombed's Left Hand Path. Entombed are my favorite death metal band of all time, bar none, and LHP is definitely up there as one of my all time favorite albums.

Gorguts' was really good but one missing option I see here is Altars of Madness... That is one shit-pounding death metal record, easily among my favourite old school debuts

edit: just realized this thing says part 2 so I assume Altars of Madness was part of the first poll... I go with Considered Dead
