I think they should get rid of pennies. There just a waste and theres really no point in having them unless your rounding. Their just a pain and usually when ever I get one i throw them away.

either that, or what you hold in your hands is worth more, and you get the better side of the deal

but if you have 4 cents, they would most likely round it up to 5. again, i'm not sure if they are actually going to implement the plan. i think there is some town in Canada that has done this, and it worked out for them in the end

although, now if they do go through with the plan, then say you are at tim hortons, and you are a penny or two short, now, they wont let you go with it. so they would have to provide EXACT change.

that would be impossible to do. how? think about taxes. if you adjust the price, then the taxes must be adjusted to everything below the 5 dollar mark, and then again, for everything below 10 dollars etc...

it wont work out too well, unless the prices everywhere would already include taxes. say, you go to tim hortons, grab a family pack timbit pack. instead of paying 3 dollars plus tax, now you'd pay 3.40(which is rounded up one cent). and that 340 is what would be posted on the menus as well. and no one would say 'plus tax' anymore. so that way, prices can be tailored to certain things..but yeah

i'm not into finance or political/economical stuff, so i'm just brainstorming...

Yeah, having taxes included would be soooo much easier. I never understood the logic in not putting it on, its not likes its fooling anyone, we know we have to pay taxes, why not make it easier?

oh, you'd be surprised how many people it fools. people who have been in the country for YEARS or even if they were born here seem to shocked that what the price of what is listed is not what they are paying. i feel like slapping them and then saying 'how long have you been in the country for?!' and i would yell 'fucking immigrant' right after that, only to realize that even i'm an immigrant, and as is almost 80% of canada...:|

Yeah your right, after working in retail for 6 months you realize common sense among the population isn't so common.

makes you wonder if you were as stupid before you worked at retail for 2 days...well, atleast that was my case. and now when they ask me why this is that much when the board behind me says something else, i just tell em to think while i serve smart people.

and if that doesnt get me fired...then the fact that i'm going out with my manager will....i'm fucked either way

Hahaha, thats hilarious. When we have flyers up in the store sometimes they fall to the ground and underneath an aisle, then a customer finds it and tries to get the item for that price, after I tell them that sale hasn't been on for the past 2 months, and the flyer even states that in very big legible writing they flip out, then they storm out and yell "Im not shopping here anymore!", as if theyre trying to punish me or something, as if I care. At my work we had a phrase for the staff: "The Customer is always lame"

I should probably be held responsible for yelling out things like 'I'm not shopping here anymore'...I was in an ESSO and there were these energy drinks...2 for $5...the sign was right on the glass door and everything then when I went up to the counter the dude said that sale doesn't start until tomorrow but there wasn't any proof of that and he still charged us...so I paid the full price (which was something around 8 bucks) and then walked out yelling 'I'm not shopping here anymore!' lol...
At least there was more reasoning behind my motive...

Yeah, the worker generally doesn't give a shit if you decide not to shop there anymore...

They were middle-eastern people and were generally giving us a hard time to begin with so...

So the Metal Masters tour is stopping in toronto, with Judas Priest, Motorhead, Heaven & Hell, and Testament, the is may be my chance to see my all time favorite band (Motorhead). Maybe I will see you there Kap'N?

Hell yeah, Im traveling across the country just for Motorhead. Ive already seen Heaven And Hell, and Im going to be seeing both Judas Priest and Testament a few weeks earlier (July 26th)
