Before "Fallen" released, I would agree with this (the disbanding part only, because IMO Varg's pre-jail albums are some of the best in Atmospheric BM that so many try to copy yet fail). Not so sure now. I'm not saying "Fallen" is a brilliant album or anything, but it's a major step up from "Belus", which implies that Varg can keep on improving, possibly up to the point where he can make something really awesome again. Maybe that's just far-fetched wishful thinking, though.

Believe or not, I agree completely with every word of this post. I mean... Fallen isn't a masterpiece but I would give it something like 7,0 (comparing it with Belus that is easily something around a 4-5... If he can continue with this progression of quality who knows... Maybe he can show us something awesome in a couple of albums...

Metallica should definately disband before it gets worse. It's gotten to the point where its fuckin' embarassing

This. If I start hating a band's music, I just don't pay attention anymore. No sense in bitching about it - I just go look for some new music that's awesome and listen to that.

In Flames definately, like those others I agree with ignoring the new shit music, but I just hate to see a band that once upon a time was one of the best in the world...turning into some scenekid shit >:(

I'll second Burzum. Very overrated band. Det Som and Filosofem are the only above average albums Varg released, and his Jailtime albums just showed how poor he really is a writing good atmospheric music.

Sounds promising. I haven't heard Fallen yet but Belus was good.

i agree man...i mean its like all those core kids these days ,people from my generation got pretty much in those two bands ONLY (ok DB too)... I mean those are some of biggest cash collecting machines in metal,had good stuff before,but man today they are just ,well, ...pretty much creatively/musically outdated.Not even that good live either(ok if someone think otherwise forgive me i am not that much into seeing them live ,so,corrections are welcome.).You know its all about stereotypes.
This bands put out the formula for success,the bunch of copy-cats followed,fans adopted the imagery and the way of thinking that they are best thing after having sex,the record labels followed the stream ,each thing led to another,mags and 'zines shaped the greenhorns into die hard fans....The mediocrity in metal music,(the birth of it),have been forged.
And also there is a matter of new Dimmu Borgir...but i think that i have wrote here enough about them.
Bottom line:Chasing for the money only ruin good bands.
