@K7: Yeah, I am thoroughly interested in the Stanley Cup...I just finished watching the Fliers vs. Canadians game...Canadians got creamed again...

I wouldnt say creamed. Montreal played better in every single game in that series. Problem was that (1) the Habs powerplay was abysmal and (2) the Flyers capitalised on their scoring chances.

I am happy to see the Pens beating them. Won't take long before Philly plays golf too.

I would've gone to that show...I don't live in Toronto anymore...I'm going to be missing a lot of shows...I missed the Ministry show...I get involved in moshpits...not so much anymore though...

I would have loved to have seen Opeth. I had to settle for Iron Maiden and Gigantour instead

@K7: I live near Montreal...I don't have a vehicle thought so I'm not able to get to shows....I actually live closer to Ottawa...the capital of Canada...it's a 45 drive to Ottawa and a 1 1/2 hour drive to Montreal...

I see, same here, thats why its hard to get to good shows even 90km from Rīga isnt far but

Whenever I want to go to a good show the nearest place to me is Toronto and thats about 2 1/2 hours there and back for me.

Toronto is 4 hours away from me...

Bah, Toronto is about a 30 hour non stop drive for me. Luckily our metal scene is growing a rapid rate over here.

Speaking of Toronto, could someone upload some Toronto metal locations in the new Metal Locations feature so I can have some places to go on my trip this summer?

Me and my friend are getting there at around 4pm (ontario time) on August 10th. Going to see Motorhead on the 13th, leaving on the 17th at around 10pm (ontario time). Im not sure how much free time im going to have because my friend already has quite a few plans (like wonderland and legoland and the zoo and the CN tower). But if I do have time a tour would be nice.

I think so. I sure hope so, because my buddy had his heart set on Legoland. Picturing a 6'5" metal head with a big goattee and hair down to his chest getting pumped about legoland still makes me laugh.

EDIT: Guess there isn't I couldve sworn there was.

Hell yeah, I was actually planning to go this year but I didnt care for the line-up that much. I mean, there are some great bands on the bill, but not worth spending a couple grand to go see (for me at least).

I think I wanted to go to the Calgary Stampede when I was a little boy growing up in Nova Scotia...I'll probably go to Hellfest when I go to Wacken too...

Yeah, the stampede is just one big over-hyped Midway with a wannabe cowboy theme. Nobody actually goes to the rodeo. Then you've got to deal with the stupid drunks, the carneys, the wannabe cowboy jocks, the screaming children, and stupid calgary flames fans (and most flames fans are brain dead idiots) who still think its hockey season. Not to mention its impossible to go to the stampede with having to spend like $100 just to stay alive, not including trying to have some fun. The only upside to that 2 week period of stupid overly proud Calgarians who've got no idea what the fuck there so obnoxiously proud about (theres a lot of problems with this city) running rampant is the fact that c-trains are running 24-7.

And yes, theres no way Id fly all the way over to Europe for just one festival, I'd have to go to at least 2.

I guess us Canadians aren't interesting enough or are too disinterested to have a thread about ourselves constantly going...

Pretty boring, its consisted of drinking, working, and playing pool for the most part. I imagine it will pick up in a few days with Monsters Of Rock and then a few days later im flying to Toronto to see Motorhead.

That doesn't sound too great, but the Monsters of Rock concert should be pretty good. My summers been pretty good. I went out east for 2 weeks. It's definatley a nice change of scenery less busy, quiet, and lots to see. Since iv'e gotten back iv'e been pretty much up to my usual.

Metal scene is almost non existent here when it comes to local bands. But when it comes to getting shows it's not that bad maybe 1-3 good shows every couple months but thats imo. Hows the scene in your'e area?
