Personally I prefer Iron Maiden because they were the ones that started the whole movement, though Metallica gave it the strenght to amaze the whole world, but you know Maiden is Maiden and they have really become legends.

Iron Maiden is totally more metal than Metallica. Sure more people like Metallica, but IM is more evil and metal than metallica could ever hope to be

Iron Maiden invent Metal (with Judas Priest and Black Sabbath) and Metallica re-invent Metal (with Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax)... I didn't vote because I can't compare them (as I said in my precedent message). I just want to explain myself!!

Agree here

But in my personal opinion Metallica is better. I'm not talking about careers or influence, simply my music taste. Also really enjoy Maiden, and their concert last year here in Lisbon was awesome!

You mean rising of Thrash Metal was re-invention of Metal? I didn't know that Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax have re-invented Metal..

I guess when he said "re-invent" he meant that they took metal to another level, due to their popularity with legions of fans supporting them, and spreading their music all over the world.

And, imo, he also tried to separate the appearance of the two bands. They are from different eras, therefore cannot be compared.

At least this was what I interpreted

I would have to go with Metallica because Iron Maiden even though they definitely have there own sound they where just another band in the new wave of British heavy metal. When Metallica came out they started a whole new genera of metal and in that regard i would have to go with Metallica even though they sold out years later.

They were just another band of the NWOBHM ???? WTF are you talking about bud, do you know any other Metal band that made 7 classics Albums in a fucking row ? I don't think so.. I mean from scratch to Seventh... they did something amazing.. and yeah Im not saying the other albums sucked far from it... Lets just say that to me FOTD is a classic like the others

they're not just another band... they are legendary musicians

I particularly agree here - without Iron Maiden, whole "NWOBHM" thing would die imo...

after this year's Wacken, many people are praising Saxon...but why Iron Maiden are that much popular and Saxon are not? there's gotta be something making Maiden NOT being "just another band in NWOBHM"

Cause Iron Maiden are way more innovative and Saxon released a LOT of garbage after Power & The Glory.

I was compring Saxon and IM in my last post. Btw Metallica had and has as much ro offer as Iron Maiden and they actually changed their style a lot unlike IM.

As you said iron maiden invent metal,

since when did they invent metal, ffs Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest all played metal BEFORE Iron Maiden even existed.
