Opeth, in my top 10 favourite bands ever. They are just so unique

I think it should be an old school death metal band like Dismember or Entombed. There's Katatonia too.

Where is HAMMERFALL in this list?

Agreed, Hammerfall first two or three albums are so great, especially Glory to the Brave...

Fans aren't a way to judge it. Entombed has less fans than Hammerfall, yet they are the pioneers of swedish death metal and their 1990 effort "Left Hand Path" is considered a landmark in the genre. BTW I heard Hammerfall's "Legacy Of Kings". I don't think they're unforgettable.

Hammerfall's decent, but no way near the BEST SWEDISH BAND. I haven't heard Sonic Syndicate.

Best swedish band I know of is In Flames. I know of almost all the ones in the voting choices and In Flames is better than all of 'em. Early In Flames, keep in mind, I don't care much for their new stuff.

How could you forget Dark Tranquillity? One of my best melodeath bands...

Opeth for me, it's thanks to them that I now love music with harsh vocals in the first place. I was drawn to them for their progressive rock sound.

Out of these in the list i voted for Arch Enemy ...but where is damn Bathory ? the Swedish legends are not even listed ? why????

Bathory has had the most vision of any Swedish band by far, even surpassing At the Gates, Carcass, etc. Bathory would be my pick if the poll was not suffocated with throwaway modern shit like Sonic Syndicate or Deathstars.
