Heh - i notice nobody gives a shit about anything from 'Metallica' to 'Hardwired'.

actually I do, I enjoy a lot some 90s songs like Of Wolf and Man, God that Failed, My Friend of Misery, Bleeding Me, Outlaw Torn, Where Wild things Are, Fixxer.

As for the last album, for me it's their best work since the black album. Spit Out the Bone is awesome indeed.

Metallica's, and possibly metal's, crowning achievement is "One."

Master of puppets I would say is the best not my favorite but it's the best.

Fight Fire With Fire

Hard to choose. It would certainly be between Fade to Black, One, Master of Puppets, Blackened and Battery.
I love most songs on the black album but wouldn't put them in the same category. Wherever I May Roam, The Unforgiven and My Friend of Misery are perfect songs.
I also like a few songs from the Load/Reload era. The House Jack Built, Until It Sleeps, The Outlaw Torn, Low Man's Lyric, Carpe Diem Baby, Bleeding Me are all great songs as well.
From the most recent stuff, Atlas Rise, The Unnamed Feeling, Broken, Beat & Scarred and The Unforgiven III are the only songs i listen to from time to time.

My favourite is The Call of Ktulu followed by the likes of For Whom the Bell Tolls, Ride the Lightning, The Thing That Should Not Be, Master of Puppets, One, Whiplash, Harvester of Sorrow, Of Wolf and Man, That Was Just Your Life, All Nightmare Long and Battery.
