Nice to see Screaming for Vengeance on top! That was my introduction to heavy metal ! I'm now listening to that album again - and I've changed my score of 9 to now a 10 because I find it flawless. It also has the coolest album opening and one of the best album endings imo. (I've just created a list of my favorite album endings - I'd appreciate it if you checked it out and tell me what you think )

While I personally prefer Defenders of the Faith, Screaming For Vengeance is pretty much flawless and an easy choice for number one of 82. The Hellion is surely the greatest album intro of them all. I did just bump up Number of the Beast a spot though, sometimes I resent that album lol.

Absolutely I'll check it out.

Now this is where we saw some real classic albums beginning to emerge onto heavy metal scene, things started to get a whole lot heavier! But looking at this year on a wider scale, I don't think it had much else going for it other than a few classics imo.

4. Venom - Black Metal
5. Motörhead - Iron Fist
6. Jethro Tull - Broadsword And The Beast
7. Anvil - Metal On Metal
8. Manowar - Battle Hymns
