People, Sweden has tons of great bands which are deserve to be in this list. So don't say where is this? where is that? The only thing you can do is to vote for 'Others..' as I've done.

This topic is sooooo difficult to choose because i like them all!! altough i think... Amon Amarth

Amon Amarth from that list but where's Dissection and Dark Funeral?? They're awesome too.

It was a toss up between Amon Amarth and Opeth. They are both really great bands but I went with Opeth mainly because I have listened to them longer.

Is very hard to chose, Swedish really know how to create freakin' good Metal, my vote goes for Amon Amarth, but i have Opeth for 2nd and In Flames in 3rd. btw swedish not only have good Extreme Metal bands but good Melodic Metal bands too just like Dream Evil. Hail Swedish Metal!

Sweeden has put out some kickass progressive metal bands: Andromeda, Evergrey, Freak Kitchen, Pain Of Salvation, Tad Morose...anyone of them gets my vote...

I personally enjoy Dissection and Katatonia the most of swedish bands. But Opeth of course is also really good.

...where's evergrey in that poll?? i voted other because i thought about them...i like opeth alot but i prefer evergrey...

WTF with Opeth? It's hardly metal when you fall asleep after a neverending 20 minutes long track... They sound like Jazz with metal influences. But then, I never was a prog fan... Anyway, my vote goes to Arch Enemy, because the guitar technicality is amazing and their last album is Angela Gossow's best one and the title track is awesome. I hesitated between AE and Amon Amarth, but Amon Amarth's melancholic melodies all sound the same, with one or two in your teeth tracks like Asator or Where is your God?

I'm not the only one i don't believe it. No matter where you go everyone is drooling over how great Opeth is, but I don't see it, I have seen them live twice, and both times I was the practically the only one who seemed to be bored by what they do.

@OP out of the list i'm gonna say Amon Amarth is the best.

In Flames for their older stuff and the importance they've had on me. Together with Norther and Children of Bodom they got me into Extreme Metal. In Flames was also the second band I saw live and to this day the one I've seen the most. I'd like to say another band, really, but I just can't deny it.

whats wrong with Deathstars.... they... are... grea. oh god, I just threw up in my mouth trying to say that. Deathstars are a crime against the human race. I have one song on my MP3 player to show people an example of bad metal haha


Anyways, why isn't Dark Tranquillity on the list huh?

I voted for Opeth, but I think that almost every metal from Sweden that I have listened is amazing. Usually when I talk with my friends I tell them things like "I think of Sweden and Finland as the countries where great metal bands are created". This poll is not enough to mention all the amazing and original swedish bands...

so, why the hell did you go there? I know cheaper places to sleep I'd really like to see them, and will miss them, when they come to Vienna ..but that's another topic..

Opeth, why not? It's tremendously difficult to answer this, just because there are so many and so good.

Hey, that's right, where is Dark Tranquillity? They'd have had my vote, definitely... Hey, and At The Gates??? You can't include In Flames in that poll and ignore DT and At The Gates, they're so much better...

I love Opeth. But I voted 'Other' for Dark Tranquillity

Scar Symmetry gets my vote for other, hope the new vocalists work out. In Flames would be my second choice.
