for me it is Stratovarius its one of my favorite bands, i love everything on it , the vocals (Kotipelto is the best damn singer ever) , the guitars are just perfect, the keyboards too , bass and drums are outstanding, yes i know that most of the songs of Stratovarius have the same structure but i still love those guys;D

The best band huh? It would be a pick between Kalmah, sonata artica and nightwish with regard to musicianship and talent. I pick kalmah cuz im more into extreme metal, but if this was 3 or 4 years ago I would say Chidlren of bodom.

Well, I'm a fan of most of the listed bands and then there are some great bands not listed (BEHERIT) but my vote goes to Bodom. Awesome guitaring and Something Wild is a great album.

hmm, I can't really vote. I like Amorphis best, but Alexi is more talented. I really like Kalmah and Norther, but it annoys me how much they copy In Flames and CoB. Even though they lack originality, I still like them.

I don't think they directly ripped off In Flames on purpose, but I get a strong In Flames vibe by some of the riffs. My apologies on the vagueness, but neither are currently fresh in my mind.

@pyroleprechaun WHAT?!?! Okay I never really got into norther, but but Kalmah IMO is on the other side of the planet compared to In flames, think about it, the vocals are differrent, there is much more soloing and complex guitarwork. Extreme drumming like blastbeats are stuff that you never ever see in Gothenberg style metal. Plus In flames doesnt have a keyboard player.

I probably just spoke too quickly, but after I posted I listened to some In Flames and Kalmah and I kinda still stand by what I said. I'm probably wrong though so don't mind me.

My favorite band from Finland is easily Ensiferum their my favorite Folk Metal Band of all time. Jari is such a great guitar player I'm glad he left Ensiferum though because they're fine without him and now there's two great bands Ensiferum and Wintersun. My next favorite band from Finland is Children of Bodom I love something wild it's great neo-classical stuff.

Amusingly my two favorite Finnish bands were not listed in the poll... Finntroll and ...And Oceans. I love the happy fun bouncy energy of Finntroll, and really enjoy ...And Ocean's first two albums.

Damn, I forgot about ...And Oceans. They're pretty good but I'm having a problem deciding who I like better. Unfortunately I voted for CoB cuz Alexi is the most talented, but I think I might like Amorphis better. I don't know, they're kinda inconsistent though. Kalmah is pretty good, but Finntroll just makes me happy. Oh well.

I think Nightwish, because they managed to change a simple gothic into the symphoni/power, It's like they invented a genre.

Nightwish because that voice gives a sensation that only 2 or 3 people in world can make like Liv Kristine make too. But actualy i don´t like that mutch, i think Once is comercial, just like Whithin Temptation tipe

The best: Stratovarius! Why?: Because i love the heavy power neoclassic of timo tolkki! A genius better than the Shit overrated of Alexi laiho PS i wrote that about alexi laiho because i don't like much COB, some songs are good, but not my genre. If someone quote me sayn' that i'm an asshole OK, is my idea and nobody can make me change, you are in other countries or in the other side of the world.

@Dream of hate:Are you right my brother! the people now think that COB are one of the greatest bands EVER!, but to be honest, that style (Melodic death) turn upside down the world of metal! is good! bout COB better than Stratovarius? better than Nightwish or even better than Moonsorrow? i not agree!
