Mix the madness of Infinity with the whole stupid craziness of Ziltoïd, and Strapping Young Lad's multi-layered sonic aggression. Add an orchestra, and a bunch of the best extreme vocalists around.

And serve with a cheeseburger!

Dunno about this one... Septicflesh had done much better with the orchestra thing, the new Unexpect beats it on the crazy part .. but maybe I've just wanted too much if had expected something between those two . Still need to give it a spin or two. Or maybe many more.

..but the new Diapsiquir beats Unexpect on the crazy part

Thanks for recommendation

I really like "Stand". I'm actually bummed I wrote Devin off after SYL (not a fan). I've been missing out it seems. Oh well, learn from your mistakes.

Excellent album!!

The silly sections of this album really kill it for me. I appreciate the humor, but it's not as well executed as Ziltoid was, in my mind. I don't really care to hear random farting noises in the title track, nor the other random skits and noise.

Track 04 is easily the worst on the album, good thing its preceded by three of the best.

The praise - I don't see it... This album is nothing great, it's good but I wouldn't listen to this more than a few times in a month really. And the comment about it being better than Septicflesh's The Great Mass, don't be ridicilous.

Indeed, it's far better than that mediocre album The Great Mass

I'm actually a little disappointed, maybe I expected something a little more extreme and crazy... but it's still good.

Yeah, I was surprised too, but I think he didn't want to go overboard, regardless of the concept. I still think it's pretty nuts but in a whimsical kinda way, bursting with personality.

This is one of those rare cases, in my opinion, when the concept behind the album is so awesome, it really makes up for the weaker points of the album. Much like Zappa's album, Joe's Garage, or Floyd's album, The Wall. It's very entertaining and has tons of "lol i c wat u did thar" moments. And I can appreciate it even more when I'm listening to it's sister album, Ghost. Cold and mechanical/warm and natural. It's beautiful, really.

I would also like to point out that what makes the concept *especially* brilliant is that you don't even need to know the lyrics to kinda figure out what the album is all about. A lot of concept albums never go beyond being lyrically conceptual or like... reoccurring melodies or some other bullshit. This stuff is truly MUSICALLY conceptual.

I mean, I usually cringe when I hear the phrase "concept album". It's so pretentious. I mean, all music has some sort of concept behind it, right? But imo, The whole Devin Townsend Project is worthy of being described as such a thing. =3

As soon as both GHOST's are out, i'm buying that 4 CD Boxset.
This CD is amazing. It would be really cool if had a 4 arena tour, playing one album from the Devin Townsend Project each. Maybe this is just way too much to ask, bet hey, i can dream
At the least, hes gotta play with a live orchestra, I don't see another way in really recreating the power of this album live.

I cannot find a bad song on this record, yet i would have preferred the album if it was twenty minutes shorter, and had a different couple of songs as opposed to 'Praise the lowered' and 'Stand',which don't get moving at all. That said, deconstruction is fucking crazy.

The Mighty Masterbator is fantastic. The entire album is in general but that track stands out the most to me.

i am just hearing it, and notice the pink floyd-ish of this song , anyone elese ?

I really like this album but excessive orchestration (in my opinion) spoils my impression a bit. I enjoy crazy guitar parts, though.

Meh. This is way too hyped. It's just random mess and noise. No groove or rhythm that could be memorable. Also nowhere near the intensity and heaviness of old SYL days. Devin obviously needed to sugar-caot it.

It's the weakest of the four albums by DTP to be honest, but even then 'Deconstruction' still as some fantastic moments. The main flaw here is that some songs are just too long for their own good, but I suppose that's what Mr. Townsend intended.

My personal favorite Devy album. Honestly prefer it over any of SYL's stuff. He just does the chaotic prog perfectly. And all the guests really seemed to enhance it rather than just seeming like cheap gimmicks.
