My favorite 'obscure' choice would be Myrthe van Beest from Magion (http://www.magionband.com/).
And then there's of course Carmen Elise Espenæs from Midnattsol / Savn.

well they're fine too,lovely nice voices, yet not so impressive,not even a bit of their own traits in the vocals in my opinion, thanks for suggestions anyhow.

Because she left Tristania and she doesn't sing anymore as far I remember she's a vocal coach now and I hate to add Tristania here while I know there is no Viebeke there and at the same time we all already know that everyone likes Vibeke, everyone praises her vocals, she has good vocals, performance,let's have more adventure in finding more new vocalists which are quite good but they're not really hyped that much.
Anita is not active anymore and as far I know there were some shows that she failed, I personally noticed that in spite of her beautiful voice she's not a very good vocalist very average, however I enjoy The Sins of Thy Beloved music, but I can't add her as a talented one to this list,I really can't spot on any of her skills as a spectacular one.

Liv has the same story of Tarja,Simone and Vibeke, ok I know, they're awesome, skilled,they have great performance and etc,we already had enough of them,their bands are always hyped

I even had doubts about Floor and Anneke, in comparison with those very known ones,these two have more outstanding vocals,their range,their skills in switching the styles and even songwriting let alone that their voices is outstanding enough, not just a typical soprano doing vocals for a gothic band,especially Floor.It's really easy to be beautiful and to be a soprano and get easily deals of attention and to be simply known

I still disagree about not including some great well-known vocalists. What exactly is the harm of doing so? Having those on the list makes the list more interesting for people who aren't into metal with female vocals. But it's your list, so your choice.

Also, whether they are now active or not shouldn't be an issue at all if you ask me. And any vocalist can have a bad show once in a while, so I wouldn't judge them on that (maybe I'm being too mild though ). How is Anita an average vocalist while you think her voice is beautiful? That being said, I agree Floor and Anneke are definitely better vocalists. Lastly, good to see you added Marcel's suggestion (Fear of God), which I checked out because it's 1 of his 5 10/10's on MS. And I must say it's an awesome and unique album, it being (gothic) thrash with female vocals.

Tarja, the former Nightwish vocalist and Simone Simmons from Epica first come to mind for me, I'm actually a bit surprised you don't have them on here already. But good picks otherwise

Never expected you to like the music of Tarja and Simone (by the way, it's "Simons", not "Simmons"! ), but I do agree with you about them. I saw Epica live early 2012 and her vocals were definitely good, just what you'd expect (so nothing spectacular).

Ahhh, but we can't be underground black metal elitists all the time, now can we?
I have pretty high standards when it comes to metal because of all the obscure, mindfuckingly creative shit that's my preference, but that's not to say I don't enjoy and recognize the talents of some more mainstream acts too

My list wasn't much presented in wide range and only restricted to top 10( with special appearance of "Fabregassed" now known as "Snake, Snaaaaaaake?". If in top 10 you like "some of them", i think i made the justice.

I like that you placed the Madder Mortem lady on top. She's one of the best I've ever heard. And the Arkona lady, you just cant deny she's good

Anyway, I dont know half of the other bands in the list, will be checking them out over time.

How about Kimberly Goss (Sinergy, Ancient, session work with Warmen), Ruby Roque (Witchbreed, The Project Hate MCMXCIX), Christine Davis (Christian Mistress) and Ihriel (Peccatum, Star Of Ash probably doesn't count)? Or the singers from Monarch and MurkRat? Or Brittany Paige from Kobra And The Lotus (if you only count the 1st album's vocals) Oh, and Runhild Gammalsaeter from Thorr's Hammer (That's an impressive sound from a16 year old, boy or girl).
Good to see Onielar and Sabina Classen get a mention. How come no one's mentioned Doro Pesch yet?

I like most of the women named/listed here ... Sabrina Valentine from Seven Kingdoms is also pretty good , check out their latest album if you had the time. ( it's Power Metal ... but it's good ! )

It's been a long times since the last time THAT I listened to Sinergy or Peccatum,and since you mentioned them here,I'm gonna check them out again, thanks for the other ones which I must hear them for the first time,and oh about Ruby from The Project Hate MCMXCIX I should say that I don't really think that she's really that talented or spectacular, at first I added her but then removed her because in that case I should add many other ones which I myself like them more but they're at the same level in my opinion nothing special to mark as a certain talent or skill in them I think,so I won't add them as well as Ruby from The Project Hate MCMXCIX.

Yeah I personally love Classen so much.And I thought of Doro too, but again I think she's not really nor underrated neither talented or special vocalist.


hehe I really like that German vegetarian she's really inspirational and I admire her personality so much just because we already heard of her enough and there are vocalists far better than her nowadays, I didn't add her to this list.

But Doro's best vocal work is definitely on the Burning The Witches album, which is also the only really good album she ever released (both with Warlock or solo)

btw I think I am talking about a different Vixen than you I am talking about the one from Hawaii where Marty Friedman played in until 1982. So not the Vixen whcih became popular later on which was an all female band.
