Has there ever been a better example of a band carrying on in the absence of its figurehead than Stratovarius? Struggling to survive during the last days of Timo Tolkki, the current iteration of the band has now released an album called Survive while positively thriving.

You say it as if it's a bad thing.

Yeah that’s what I hate about a lot of metalheads. It’s not bad because it’s genuinely bad, it’s bad because it’s pop!

Metalheads of my age (50s) has been transformed into one through many genres and even though i dont listen much of pop or rock nowadays, I dont hate those genres. Nevertheless I dont disagree todays metalheads hating Pop because they need to hear metal if they listen to a metal band. So its obvious that they find it bad when it sounds like Pop.

I'm hyped for this. This is very very good Stratovarius album and power metal album with poppish melodies. I can barely go to sleep since I want to listen it more.
