Ensiferum, they have yet to give me a letdown album. Simple as that.

Aren't they more folk than extreme power......i think ov extreme power to be stuff like Children Of Bodom.

Meh, I just chose my favorite from the list....

I know mate, some bands on the list are rather strange options for the poll question :p

I don't really get into sub subgenre classification debates, but out of all these bands I prefer Wintersun. Children of Bodom are a close second and a lot of respect has to be given to them for pioneering the "Extreme Power Metal" genre. I may be in the minority, but I enjoy all of their albums, even if they have changed their sound quite a bit. I also love Norther and Ensiferum, though those who are into genre debates would probably consider Ensiferum to be folk metal.

Although I hate this lame excuse for a genre (not the music, but the "extreme power metal" label itself) I will vote without any doubt for Wintersun.

This is a band that has produced so far only 1 album, but this album is symbol of perfection in music for me. I think its so complex musicaly that I couldnt describe it well, if I tryed. Its an album you can listen to over and over again, and not get bored of it.... I like it even more every time I hear it.
Another thing is, if you compare the lyrics with other typical "extreme power metal" bands, such as Children Of Bodom, Norther, its WOW WOW , I mean, you cant compare them really.
Tastes are different, but for me this album is so good, that I fear that Jari wont make such a killer album soon again...

Although, I could add COB from this list, Id like to add Ensiferum and Moonsorrow, but I dont think they fit in this genre....

I voted for ensiferum, but they are Viking, isn't them? that's why i prefer Norther hehehe. The First Album is good, but the other things that came after that were just bad. So, i suppose i stay with Wintersun!

Ensiferum ?? ... that's an extreme power metal band ? ... Eternal Tears of Sorrow too ?? I voted for Wintersun.. maybe after them Norther and Kalmah ... on the other hand wich it's the limit between melodic death and extreme power ?? Also Ensiferum it wasn't vikin or "extrem folk" at least ? :S

why is the topic extreme power metal :S it should be more like melodic Finnish metal or along those lines
I voted for Eternal tears of Sorrow as they probably have the greatest influence on the other bands.

Think CoB is kinda overrated, but still among the best ones in this poll, together with Kalmah, ETOS and Wintersun.
But think my vote goes to ETOS in the end

Wintersun ofc for me becauce they are my favorite band but only one album out, probebly this year they will realase "Time". But all bands are good in the list and btw Skyfire is not from Finland, they are from Sweden!

Kalmah... All the way.

The vocals are so powerful.
And the riffs agressive as hell.

And they haven't done a bad album...
Many people say that Kalmah is a copy of CoB... but Kalmah is just, better... Better lyrics, better vocals IMO better feeling!!!

Wow, this is a really hard choice. I would have to say that its a tie between Children Of Bodom, Kalmah, and Wintersun

No offensive, but what do you define the genre viking metal? As far as I know, folk goes with viking. Ensiferum has folk element, and maybe 'cause of their lyric of mediaeval, so they are considered as viking metal. Metalstorm considers them as blackened folk, what do you think?

NOT VIKING because finsih bands cant play viking metal , because historicaly there was no vikings, finish are mot vikings and I agree whit MS defination

Windir can be vikibg/black, like Einjeren, borkongar,
viking are only from viking countries, soem kind a BM, folk metal , whit varius elements, like ancient gods in lyrics, anvient wariors , such band scan be from Poland, but in that case its slavic metal
Bathory can be viking but Graveland who are simmilar are slavic

In my opinion CoB , I'm not a big fan of this genre , but I do like CoB
