They deffinetly are one of my most favourite bands. I really love their melodies.
The instruments alone wouldn't be very good. But put togehter they are very very amazing.
Morten Veland is one the most talented persons in Metal.
What are your opinions on this band?

Hey bro how u come here? eh lolololol so u came to Sirenia too, and as usually i agree with you but i must go deeper, this is album its like Tristania last effort, no grawls, no heavy/strong riffs, simple battery, nice amd soft melodies all over ..... then we arent talking about a symphonic gothic act, this is romantic stuff, closer to old Nightwish or even some Therion ..... just to say some good bands ...... the album is right, not a bullshit, but i cant like it, no no no no, where the hell are we going when big bands like these come to make so a trendy material eh??? is this the death of "gothic" METAL. When we talked about this in the past i thought Morten was meant to be our saviour but now .... im really pissed off, and this post has been very light for my style, hope most of you ppl like this album so their work wont be worthless ..... but for now im depressed and sad, pls Penumbra dont bring out another album too , that could be death for me LMAO. Up Trail of Tears, still true to their music way

A great band, 'Lithium and a Lover' is one of my favourite songs. Even though it's lyrics (And most of their other song's lyrics) make no sense whatsoever. Seriously. Any song that contains the phrase "Lithium and a lover" will never make sense. Ever.

Where can I find the new album? I've been looking everywhere and I'm really excited to hear it....

@TheReaper: tr00, but the promo has been released and is available. And I found it and I like it I can't really understand why all the moohoo about it, the ONLY thing thi album lacks is Morten's growls. The female vox are a bit too emphasize, but nonetheless good therefore I gotta say Morten once again proved he is the mastermind of gothic metal. I'm not really bothered by the minimalization of choirs and ochestral parts (who are almost completely missing), the core and the essence of Sirenia IS in this album, the riffs and melodies are stunning. Gotta say I'm really pleased by this album.

I've already heard the songs at the myspace, and they don't sound that bad, but I think that not only the orchestration and Morten growls are missing, but also I think that the band sound more melodic, including Monika's vocals. But, if I have to be fair, the riffs sound really great.

I was disappointed with the video. A severe lack of emotion in the vocals and it sounded too poppy. I just hope Nine Destinies And A Dwonfall is better than that and they decided to make a video for that particular song because it is so accessible, perhaps.

I have listen to the new album . My opinion is that Sirenia is becoming a more popular band. I mean this album has nothing to do with others. It has still their sound but more different. There are good songs like Downfall and Sundown . Much attention is given to Mind's Eye but the more i listen to it the more i hate it. Why , i don't know. There is much female voice and little male voice. Well i give it 5/10 .

Actually the same thing is happeing to both bands Sirenia and Tristania: they're losing atmosphere, and which is worse, quality.

The new album's structure was amazing. However, no Morten except in a few select songs did disappoint me. It seems that they are going for more of a gothic rock approach. I think this band needs to save Vibeke from Tristania and replace Monika and have Morten do a little more growls and you would have an upbeat version of Tristania (back in the 'Beyond the Veil' era. Eh, too bad that won't happen. RIP Tristania and Sirenia...

I finally got their Promo. What to say..I must agree with the most of you...I prefer the early Sirenia. This isn't that bad, some nice sounds and other things, but I must be true: I expected some more from this last work.

27.01.2007 - 00:24 Written by Bitch Boy on 12.01.2007 at 22:24 I don't agree, Tristania's "Illumination" is extremely atmospheric. Not as dark, violent, aggresive or bombastic as "Beyond the veil", but it has it's own sad, beautiful atmosphere. Sadly, I cannot say the same about Sirenia's "Nine destinies", in which the band has forgotten all the emotion, the power and the beauty of their first two albums. I find "Nine destinies" to be a disappointing, colourless release. Tristania's "Illumination", on the contrary, is an exciting gothic rock/metal release, catchy, melodic and beautiful. But I guess it is just an opinion.:)

@ Nasi2: I have to said you're right about Sirenia, if I have to choose between Illumination and Nine Destinies, I would pick Illumination without any doubt, but both bands are really far from their earlier works.

Eh, to me Illumination's songs all kind of sound the same to me. I mean, they may have different vocal melodies but the actual song structure seems the same with each song. It reminds of when Morten used to be in the band; they would have their upbeat and breakdowns (metal breakdown of course lol). Since Morten is gone (and seem to take the upbeatness with him) their songs sound just like a huge breakdown in old Tristania days.

Sirenia is definitely, definitely THE BEST band! And a contribution to this has the beautiful Monika's voice. From the latest album I like all songs. But the one that I like most is My Mind's Eye. From the earlier albums I like just a few songs. I also like Monika. She is one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen.

I like their new stuff, but not as much as the old. As said earlier it's gone a bit poppy and lack the emotions there previous work had. Their new videos aren't anything special either

I was digging some goth metal, and I came up to this band and I was like "What the fuck is this?" I still cant believe that some one as talented as Morten Veland could leave Tristania and join this, her voice is so annoying, she sounds likes a mouse =X Ok maybe they are good, but I just heard the wrong songs I went to the video page here on metalstorm and watched both videos. I thought that the first video was Sailor Moon's theme song, but I was wrong I guess
