It Chapter 2
Based on remake 2017 IMO,

Based on the 2017 film? That one was part one and this one is part 2.

Have yopu read the novel this 2 part film is based on? I guess not since you're talking about a part 3 with pensioners.

Burning (2018)

Great stuff. I feel like it's hard to find a film like this; one that has me thinking about it days later, leaving a lot of questions unanswered, but isn't a total mindfuck or vague metaphor.

For the first time in forever I actually went to watch a movie in theaters because I finally heard of something worth going out to watch.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

I went in as blind as possible, only overhearing snippets of what the movie was about, so really all I had to go by was it's a Terantino film about the Manson family murders.

I absolutely loved the soundtrack, laughed out loud a couple times at the comedic lines and egregious violence, fell in love with the alternative storyline, appreciated the Easter eggs and insights into his painstakingly researched idealistic vision of Hollywood's golden age... Leo and Brad Pitt fucking nailed their roles. It was the first movie since Arrival I can outright admit to fanboying over.

I've seen about 1500 or so films in my time and this easily asserts itself into my top 50. Definitely worth the money and a night out for.

Blue Ruin (2013)

Loved it quite a bit. It's a semi-realistic take on a revenge story with wonderful suspense scenes and great performaces all-around. Looking forward to seeing the next film "Green Room" by the same filmmakers, where Patrick Stewart plays the main villain. Should be interesting. 8/10 and a recommendation from me.

To Kill A Mockingbrid (1962)

Loved this one too, though some moments were cheesy (perhaps only by today's more cynical standrads that my brain has adopted) and one in particular seemed rather unrealistic/unbelievable. This is one of the those films that is probably more imprtant than it is objectively great, but it's definitely worth seeing. I am not entirely sure what the ending's about (and I haven't read the book) and what the juxtaposition of Boo and Tom was meant to say. I have a hypthoesis... but that would be getting into spoilers. It's definitely worth seeing though, an 8/10 for this one too.

Blue Ruin and Green Room

Those two are great. Just don't watch Saulnier's most recent film, Hold The Dark, unless you want to be bored for 2 hours. Really, it feels like it should be his first film where he didn't really know what he was doing yet.

Yeah, people don't seem to like that one at all, but the critics' scores aren't bad. I might still check it out some time...

Not tonight though, going to watch Denis Villeneuve's "Enemy" (2013) and Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" (1975) tonight. Looking forward to both films a lot. I love both directors and Barry Lyndon is one of the only Kubrick films I haven't seen yet.

"Enemy" (2013)

Fucking woooo! Even before reading others' interpretations after coming up with my own (shitty) one, I liked it a lot. Captivating stuff, a film You can enjoy probably even without understanding it at all, but also one that forcefully invites you to think about it. Denis Villeneuve is surely one of the very finest directors of our era too. A true great IMO. 9/10, highly recommended.

Metren has been watching some great movies haha. Enemy remains my favourite Villeneuve film even after Arrival, possibly the best first contact film I've ever seen, and Blade Runner, a sequel-reboot that came out 35 years after the original and was actually on the same level (I'd say it was actually better.) So yeah, definitely one of the best filmmakers of our time. I hope Dune does well.

Barry Lyndon (1975)

The film spans 15+ years, but Barry doesn't seem to age a day. That's my only nitpicky complaint Otherwise, a flawless masterwork from the lightning to the long tracking shots to the storytelling that has moments where I burst out laughing to darker moments that are like a damned punch in the gut. It's probably my favorite Kubrick film now.

Spielberg once said: "Kubrick films tend to grown on you, you need to see them more than once." Well, I definitely need to see Barry Lyndon again, but I can't imagine loving it more than I do already. 10/10 and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Scrath off the next film you were planning to see from your list and watch this instead, everyone. Even if that film on the list is Enemy

Midsommar

Pretty movie with some interesting ideas, but has a very common horror film problem where the characters are stupid idiots and you find yourself thinking "why don't they just leave?" (the same thing the main guy's friends think about his relationship, is it a metaphor??!!) Also, it had no business being two and a half hours long. I like the Swedish people though, they have charming accents.

The Irishman

Good film, but I felt like I had already seen it. Robert De Niro does a very good younger Robert De Niro impression.
