The best: Stratovarius!

Why?: Because i love the heavy power neoclassic of timo tolkki! A genius better than the Shit overrated of Alexi laiho

PS i wrote that about alexi laiho because i don't like much COB, some songs are good, but not my genre. If someone quote me sayn' that i'm an asshole OK, is my idea and nobody can make me change, you are in other countries or in the other side of the world.

I have to agree actually. Alexi and Children Of Bodom have both become..........(God, I hate this word)....overrated. They are talented and I still enjoy their first 3 albums, but they're not the greatest band to ever live.

I think Bodom are the Metallica/Iron Maiden of today. There's have to be metal band, that is rased to the status of 'super stars'.

That's a good point. I've never really thought of it that way. However, it does seem that those not even into metal claim to be a Children Of Bodom by hearing one song, then soon to spout the claims "COB is the greatest band ever!"

Well, I have to agree, that they have a nice, clean, catchy sound, and with those harsh vocals, it really seem that way at the first listen. I remember I went mad about 5-6 years ago when I heard 'Touched By the Angel Of Death' for the first time.

And these bands draw the most fans, that's another thing. And it's not even the genre, I mean Kalmah is basicly unknown.

Yet, I prefer Kalmah to Children of Bodom anyday. Bodom is catchy, and they're all good musicians...I can't deny that. I just can't get over how everyone puts them higher than every band on the planet. I read something this one guy wrote where he said he was pissed that Children Of Bodom was playing before Slayer on the Unholy Alliance Tour. He claimed Children Of Bodom was easily better than Slayer and that they would have made a better headliner.

I kinda agree. One of the reasons why it took me so long to get into CoB is because of how many idiotic fans worship Alexi. I like CoB better than Kalmah, but Kalmah annoys me less...if that makes any sense.

Don't forget, that Alexi has that 'good looking frontman' thing going on, so this might be another reason to worship Bodom,

@pyroleprechaun- That's why I'm not into Bodom like I was a while back. Have you heard Kalmah's new album yet?

@köpönyeg- That's true....I hear a lot of rambling about how Alexi is a "good-looking" guy. I always thought he kind of looked like a woman really.

COB is one of the bands that work hard for be where are they now, but the behaviour of superstars and the Good lookin' frontman guy are not my best! i hate COB because of that, a cute guy singin' and tryng to be BAD! Evil! while they are just kids with bad attitude...puagh!

It blows AYDY? away, that's for sure. It's just as good as all their others, which says something I think. The big difference is they used more DM-ish vocals on The Black Waltz.

I gotta say Children of Bodom. Why? For one, I'm just a fan of that style, and I personally think CoB do it better than most, and they were one of the first that I heard playing the melodeth style, so naturally I clung to them. They have yet to release a dissapointing album, although thier latest is my least favorite. Alexi isn't the best guitarist out there, but he is damn good, there is no denying that, and I could care less what he looks like. He could be a three hundred pound hairy fat man for all I care, just as long as the music rocks!

Why does everyone refer to Children Of Bodom as melodic death? I don't see it at all.....if I'm the only one, I'll shut up.

I see pwM in their music to, if not directly, then try to listen some pwM then to Bodom, and the music is very similar, you'll see. Bodom isn't melo death, never. They don't even have death styled music, nor vocals.

I dunno what drove me to say this, but: did Children of Bodom invent a whole new style of power metal? Or well...something like that. I was thinking about that while drinking once...and i dunno, i'm still curious about that.

Now for the question: i voted for Sentenced, because i concider them to be one of my favourite bands all in all and they just deserve more than CoB has (god...why do i always have to mention CoB when talking about Finnish metal). Sentenced' death metal days were quite enjoyable also and the fact that they kept their cool til the end of their time is worthy of recognition. Personally my favourite albums by them are The Cold White Light and The Funeral Album. And of the death metal times, i enjoy North From Here most. A truly marvellous band.

It's hard to say actually, cuz Bodom and Kalmah formed about at the same time, but yes, I think they made a new genre, finnish pwM. Or something like that. Extreme pwM sounds silly to me.

Jari Maenpaa is GOD.

Stratovarius is the most successful band from Finland.Since late 80's they proved themselves as a high quality power metal band with progressive and neoclassical influences. Many other bands like Children of Bodom,Nightwish,Sonata Artica influenced and inspired by Stratovarius and they have great respect for that band.

Dont know if they are the best finnish band out there, but I love Moonsorrow so they got my vote.

Children Of Bodom gets my vote.
But Sonata Artica and Stratovarious are up there to with most successful.

Well of course my vote is going to Kalmah! Again I say it but its awesome band and best from Finland!

I love every band from Finland.Stratovarius, Nightwish, Sentenced.Sonata Arctica...all of them are my favourite. I gave my vote for Nightwish, because now when Tarja is gone, i'm not sure that with any other vocal they will be the same

For me personally, it's defenetly Children Of Bodom... they are my favourite band period! not only my favourite band from Finland... but I love a lot of the Finnish stuff... I like Sentenced, I LOVE Amorphis... I also like Nighwish, Sonata Arciteca and Stratovarius, but quite often they are not really my cup of tea... but I really really like some of the not exactly metal Finnish stuff like Lordi and Him (...yes, you can bash me for that all you want )
I also sometimes dig stuff like To/die/for and shit... a huge amount of the music I listen to actually comes from Finland... it's my favourite country musically

P.S.: plus the Dudesons RAWK!

Children Of Bodom of 'course!!!! But,in fact the most bands coming out of there,just ROCK!

Nightwish is the best. I love bands from Finland. But Nightwish means much to me and Toumas is my fav songwriter.
