As we know we don't find pure thrash like before
Thrash kicked off in the early eighties with bands like Metallica Anthrax Slayer Megadeth Testament Flotsam & Jetsam Exodus Destruction Sodom ...etc
we know in the 90s Grunge killed the majority of thrash bands
but thrash is back with new bands like Merciless Death, Bonded By Blood ,Wabringer, Violator....etc
what do you think about these band ?
do you think thrash is back whith old school stuff?
check some of these bands out via Myspace or their websites

Thrash metal is my most favorite genre but it is dead rihgt now.when metallers started playing death & black they killed thrash and also when metaillca and megadeth started changing their style they distroyed the whole genre

This is untrue. Thrash isn't dead, not even close. Not only are new thrash bands popping up, but classic thrashers are still kicking ass. I mean 2010 had three genre-defining thrash albums. And ALL of them were by thrash legends (Exodus, Annihilator, Overkill).

Thrash will never die, its been push underground but is coming back. idk how long its will be big again or if our new Thrash exuding bands will fail us as many of the old did, but as long as theres pop culture and sell out genres out there, there will be thrash to tell them them to shut up and die.
(please dont mention Annihilator - Metal... theyve already failed)

Ive always been a fan of death metal and black metal, but anyone who claims to be a metal fan should pay there proper respect to thrash. If more metalheads understood this than thrash never would have faded in the first place. Although thrash may be seeing a resurgence, i think the next generation of metal fans will never accept thrash. Its the sad, sad thruth.

2 very good points, thrash gave birth to Death and Black metal.
and the new generation will never pick up thrash (18 and younger), there going to carry on hardcore, as it infects and rots Heavy Metal

Violator - Chemical Assault
Bonded by Blood - Feed The Beast
Crysys - Demonthrashion

I think that the main cause for the whole thrash resurgence is simply because of Trivium. I'm no fan of them or anything, but The Crusade was a thrash album, and was a mainstream success, showing the new generation the ways of thrash.

I've tried some of "todays" thrash bands (Vektor and Warbringer mostly) and it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe all the cross-over genres and different branches of metal today kind of got thrash lost in the shuffle. Nothing comes close to Coroner, Voivod, Forced Entry, Death Angel for me.

Thrash is definitely my favorite genre of metal. I've loved it ever since I heard Anthrax's "Indians" on some radio station when I was like, 12. Sure, it almost seems like the genre disappeared for awhile, but it's really starting to come back. Take bands like Witchburner, Volture, or Lich King. Hell, even I'm playing in a local thrash band. Right now, thrash is just being drowned out by all the shitty stuff passing as metal today, like all of these "-core" subgenres or Nu-metal. But hey, grunge had its 15 minutes, and so will these poseurs. But thrash? Thrash has been around for well over 30 years, and it's still be around in another 30.

Lich King, thanks for the discovery. Very good, specially the guitarrist. But i saw that the guitarrists Erick "Rambo" (lead guitar) and Kevin "The Hulk (rhythm guitar) have left the band, right? if it is true, is a great shit.

Lich King used to be a one man band, that one man being Tom, the singer. The lineup listed at that time were not real people but crazy shit Tom made up. He now has real musicians in the band and that is who the normal names are. They have two guitarists now but are looking for a bass player. No matter what lineup changes occur in the future, I wouldn't worry since Tom writes all the stuff, it isn't going to sound any different.

already had this talk with lots of ppl, i hate post hardcore, thrash takes good influences from old school punk hardcore. i believe post hardcore is infecting modern music to the point the word "metal" cant even be used correctly anymore, thus i only say Heavy Metal when refering to real metal
The thing that makes me so excited about this resurgence is the fast that 99% of is it hardcore free. there are no break downs, no slurry vocals, none of this slayer thrashcore bs.

No, he had recorded the whole album by himself as a demo version, but re-recorded it with the rest of the guys once he had the lineup. The first two albums were just him though.

It's a pity Hypnosia released only one album, because "Extreme Hatred" is awesome.
Some would probably argue that it's a Kreator rip-off. It's true that any song on the album could appear on a Kreator album but I enjoy it so much I don't mind the similarity.

Thrash isn't dead. I'm 19, been listening to metal for about 6-7 years and most of my albums are 80's thrash. Thrash is the best sub genre by a mile, but the newer bands aren't so great. There's no need for them anyway. Theres no point in thrash bands anymore. It's gone as far as it can.

Yeah but really... Fuck Thrash Metal, it simply sux man.

Nah just kiddin, i'm sure some of you reading the beginning actually had blood pumping up their veins eh
IMO, Thrash in all its might is dead, i'm not saying nobody likes it anymore, hell no... at some point, the old glory of the big four, when they still had their soul and weren't tainted by the colour of the money, this my friends... this WAS THRASH moments. Yes yes, there is some resurgence with the cross-over/modern thrash metal which I enjoy alot. But to say its coming back... nah, I don't think so. Imo it'll stay under the ground pounding and banging away from the evil popular stares. But nothing more really.

@fabregassed: BTW my friend, when you're saying that the newest band are not needed and that there is no point in thrash bands anymore, well it kinda proves that its going six feet under lol. You might have 80s thrash albums, this doesn't mean its still alive if you don't listen to the new thrash coming out and ur not interested in it, you're kicking it to its death. lol thx anyways for posting.

I still listen to newer thrash bands, but just don't really enjoy them. They all seem pretty directionless to be honest. Having said that, I do really enjoy this one man band from Spain, called Cautiva. It's quite a proggy thrash band, and the guys material sounds really fresh. For me thats the way thrash needs to go, not the bands just playing exactly like their influences e.g. Municipal Waste, Evile and Warbringer.

Actually those band you cited are pretty good thrash bands IMO at least. And anyways, old bands still release good stuff, just an example of that would be Exodus with Exhibit B... anyways I'm just saying that your statement was a bit contradictory thats all
