For me.. Hggard ... they combine perfectly growl vocals with amazing symphonical music and clean voices, a good lyrics and argument behind every song ...

Rhapsody means almost everything to me....They maded me love metal and clasic music at the same time.

And the first 2 albums are exellent... beautiful masterpieces.

No contest for me really. Therion is probably my favorite band. They reach across so many different styles. Each album has a distinct feel.

I love em.

I have to go with Hollenthon on this one - kind of disappointed to not see them on the list as an option. Unlinke many other symphonic bands who focus so much on stringed instruments and choral arrangements, Hollenthon really favor a brassy sound. That, with their Near Eastern folk-tinged sound, make them one of the more distinct bands palying within this genre.

...i agree hollenthon is a band that should be on that list, i would vote for them too...i picked adagiio because it's the band i like the most from them, i can't compare them to haggard for example because i find them completely different...they're both good...therion isn't my favorite and i only like a couple of songs...rhapsody is so boring, i just can't entirely listen to one of their albums...demons & wizards is quite good but i think of them more as power metal...

Another tough one, everyone knows how much I like Rhapsody... and Therion... and Haggard... and Adagio, many bands missing here.

Still my vote goes for Rhapsody, they are my all-time favorites. I don't know why many people here has this obsessive idea of the "True Metal" and the "Flower Metal", Oh yes I forgot, it is because the Heavy Metal bands started with grunts and growls... but that is out of topic.

From the list Tristania or Therion would be my favorites, but Epica I think is superior still

My heart says Therion - but in the end my vote had to go to Haggard - in the pure symphonic areas they are just that bit better. Especially Eppur si muove - I simply stand in awe of the album

I voted for Haggard, they are simply awesome! (and a lot better than Therion imo )

Of for the love of Goth, do you really expect me to take it personally when you say something negative (untermench) about bands in my favorites list?

To your second point, then why make a poll in the first place? If you exclude the two most popular bands, then the third most popular will win. So making a poll has no point to begin with, in which case there should just be a topic for discussion, no poll. As there is a poll here, I am more than justified in asking why bands that use a full symphonic orchestra (on every song on DPP for example) are not included, while bands like Tristania are.

My favorite Symphonic Band is Nightwish.
Out of the list, I voted for Within Temptation.

Demons & Wizards is the best band in that list... Though I've never considered them symphonic.

Definitely Therion. People think "Ghost Love Score" is impressive, but listen to this and get back to me.

Impossible to choose but for me I will choose WT they are awesome in a simple word

I don't know many symphonic bands, but from the list i will go with "Therion" i love many of their songs, they are the best in this category IMO.

Nightwish is my favorite symphonic metal band. Since they're not on here, I went with the next best band, Within Temptation.
